I won't bother you with a long post, but I did want to put up the ad free version of the next episode. Only two more sponsored shows, then we can get back to the usual routine. They've been fun, but I already got a snarky review. Yeesh, people-who-listen-for-free, I have a sad savings, aging parents I need to visit and take care of, and ever increasing bills to pay 😑. Let's not talk food prices and health issues. Oh, oh, Snarky Person, I'd really like to doll up a used van and travel and research like my bestie Japon Burabura. That's the ✨dream✨.  I say that because it really brings home how much I love all of you so very, very much. Truly from the bottom of my heart, I appreciate every one of you 🙏💕 Thank you 大好きです〜🥰 I wish I could have a party and invite you all to come over. I'd cook or we could order a bunch of yummy Japanese dishes. Oh! I could rent out an cool izakaya and have the chefs their prepare everything. Oh oh! We could spend a week, stay in historic inns and I'd take you around neat and off the beaten track historical places, temples, shrines, parks, everything would be away from the tourists and crowds, places you can't even get to by train...oh, dear, another dream ✨☁️✨ I said this wasn't going to be long.

Hint about The Unxplained show --> 🧜‍♀️

In Australia our culture around death and mourning is pretty different than in the US. But as I understand it, American death rites are really quite unusual, especially regarding things like embalming. But we (and many similar nations!) share the same problem of often being...too busy, for death. Keeping it sectioned off from 'normal life' and being expected to just forget and 'get on with it' So the crafting of kaimyō as a gift struck me as really beautiful ❤️❤️ It also makes me wonder about modern Japanese relationships to death, how has it changed over the past century, what's stayed the same, what are some unique customs and things like that. I know funerals are generally handled by Buddhism, and just as expensive as in most of the world, but it'd be amazing to know about what happens AFTER the funeral Thanks for this great ep, hope you are allowing yourself some good rest as well ❤️❤️

I loved this one, but I also enjoyed the sponsored content as well. I love hearing things I didn't know about places I've seen in Japan, like this golden pavilion or the Hakone gate. 🩷

Uncanny Japan -- Thersa Matsuura

Thank you, A! They gave me a lot of freedom on what to talk about and it was kind of fun to do things I normally don't do. I didn't know a lot of that either!
