Another spooky story for October. A short story about Ame Onna, The Rain Woman. Here's a weeee bit early ad-free version.

I got a blog post to send out to all this week. Lots going on, but I'll check in soon.

I am saddened but not very shocked print sales aren't going to you. One of my friends who is a children's book author said something similar recently, or having a lawyer check her contracts typically ate up all her profits. :/

Uncanny Japan -- Thersa Matsuura

A! It's nuts. My agent is trying everything and has been for years, but it's not *enough* money to file any suit, and not *NOT enough* to let go. I mean, I'm struggling to pay groceries. I could use the couple hundred bucks. Meanwhile, the publisher posts photos of him and his wife vacationing on beaches in Spain. But the nefarious part is he's made himself a sweetheart in the community. I'm so sorry about your friend's situation, too. That's awful. She spent so much time, energy, and creativity into writing these books😢. Contracts can be so sneaky. Why does it feel everything is designed to ride on and crush and exploit the actual artists?
