What a stunning improvement , excellent work!! The red decorated pot in the front is particularly beautiful. I was shocked to see the initial condition of the place. In my ignorance and naivety I believed everyone maintained a high degree of cleanliness there. That house is a disaster, I'm so sorry you had to deal with that.

Long time expats (and even Japanese friends) always roll their eyes at the idea that everyone thinks Japanese homes are all clean and tidy. I told a bunch of friends (Japanese) about Mari Kondo and they thought she was ridiculous. The truth is there isn't a lot of space. So no closet space, rooms space, usually no sheds outside (or something very small, no garages for cars, (well, rare). Although this house does take it to the extreme 😅
