Hey, All 🫶

A heads up. I just sent all the postcards out for August and September with a (long) letter and sticker to Kappa, Oni, and Tengu. Below are some of them, the ginkgo leaves version. There is also a cute frog, but I took a photo, then the SD card in my phone went belly up, and they were already sealed in envelopes...so no photographic evidence remains of the frog. It'll be a surprise.

I'm figuring out how to record on my recorder "not" in my fancy, homemade studio. How to record, then do a little audio processing and uploading all from my laptop. My first experiment is a couple more chapters of The Pillow Book. Once that works seamlessly (should be soon!), I'll put that up as a Bedtime Story as well.

I'm going to try and post little recordings from the road as well. I don't know why, but I'm kinda excited about this idea.

Lots to do before I go. And lots to do that I think I haven't even considered yet. Like telling the neighborhood head guy that I'm not going to be here for a couple weeks. I need to jot that down, lest I get in trouble later.

I'm also going to post once a day little short, um, posts on social media. Here on Patreon quips as well. But more in depth things for patrons only, of course.

Okay. I need to go find out what boxes (yes, still not unpacked from the move in February) my winter clothes are in. It's starting to get chilly and surely will be much colder going north. Hope the snows stay away. The Cube isn't exactly fit for driving in the snow.

Here's a rough (very rough) map of where I'll be driving/ferrying. It's very simple: Start in Shizuoka, drive north. Ferry from Niigata to Tomakomai, back on the road. Spend a couple days with the kids (although it sounds like they have to work and don't have any vacation days left, so in that case, hang out in Hokkaido), ferry down to Hachinohe, then drive back to Shizuoka.

Some random photos:

While at my desk the other day, Kawashima-san came over making a bunch of noise -- he always does to let me know he's on the property coming up to my window. He had two handfuls of kiwis he'd picked from his tree.

He said, they're safe! I ate three this morning and I feel fine.

Like...why would I think they weren't safe? He's a hoot.

And a tanuki keeping and eye on you.

This is a short update. I need to figure out the recording situation and get some Pillow Book recorded. Next on my list!XO,

terrie

Have a lovely trip, Terrie, and stay safe. I'm really quite envious. I look forward to your trip posts and photos.

Hi Terri! Beautiful update. Looking very much forward to your road trip posts! ❤️ I do understand your neighbour! When sharing from the garden, I taste first 😀. Last spring I gave offspring plants to a herbal circle for their raffle and today I still worry if maybe some inedible lookalikes which grow here also will be in someones tea. No casualties reported yet.

Have a great trip, Terrie. I hope it does the job of refreshing and energising you.
