Sunrise Over Georgia -- Happy New Year! (Patreon)
Content
Hey hey and Happy New Year! あけましておめでとう!
I just got back in from a two-week trip to the States and brought home with me a nice, teary-eyed head cold. I should hurry and do a podcast or Bedtime Story, totally rocking a very deep and sultry voice, although a bit nasally and sneezy. Okay, I'll wait.
Back to talking about the New Year. In Japan it's tradition among some people to wake up early and go see the first sunrise of the New Year. I have been doing this for years even when it's too cold and I've been up past midnight to hang out at the temple and ring the bell and no one wants to go with me. I go. I live near a rocky beach and it's lovely to get there before dawn on January first and join all the other revelers in welcoming the first sunrise. There is dancing and giant flag waving and Invariably, some old man shouts out good wishes and invites us all to banzai the sun.
This year, though, I was literally in an airplane when the sun came up (in my own private time zone, that is). Luckily, I had a window seat and got this shot. We were flying somewhere over Georgia at the time. It's quite beautiful and made me feel magical inside, excited about the New Year and what it has to offer.
Jet lag is hanging on just a tad, but I'm going to start working on the next podcast/Bedtime Story tomorrow and get that up ASAP. I want to welcome all my new Patrons. I look forward to meeting you and chatting about any and every old or new thing. Remember if you didn't get stickers to message me or email me and I'll send those to you. Also, if there are any past Bedtime Stories you want to hear, again, let me know and I'll get MP3s to you.
I'm just checking to say, I'm wishing all of you the most fantastic 2019. The world is still insane in so many ways, but it feels like we're coming up for air. It feels like we we have hope. Let's make beautiful things and connect with each other.
XO,
terrie
