Some fun news!

Several years ago an incredibly nice and wickedly talented (up and coming) writer & director John Stroter Cairns contacted me. He lives in Japan and was working on a new movie. He had just finished his first movie "Schoolgirl Apocalypse" .

He said he liked the Bedtime Stories and the animation and he wanted to animate one of them. This, even though he was just starting to learn how to do 2-D animations. We talked back and forth over the years, but movie directors are incredibly busy, especially ones who live in Japan, most likely have another job, and have a family. So we stayed friendly but nothing ever came of it.

A month or so ago I posted on Facebook about how I was waking up at one and two am and unable to sleep, getting shit done, then falling asleep again at like five or six for a few hours. He messaged me right away and we talked about life in self isolation. He said he was doing the same thing sleep-wise.

Two days ago he sent me a link to an animation he did for "The Hell Carrot". Remember that one? From waaay back when.

I loved it, clapped my hands in delight and laughed out loud at parts. But (!) after hearing it both Richard and I were appalled at the sound quality.

John is letting us fix that up, as well as add a new and much nicer atmospheric music/sound effect bed.

I'll put it up here as soon as we get it done and all agree it's ready to put up for the world.

The above image I snapped when we were watching it on the TV, listening to changes Richard had made. It's the scene when the old woman swims out in the blood lake and grabs on to the carrot.

Stay safe and XOXO,

terrie

Very cool. See, you probably never thought that sleep peculiarities could be a support for project development.

Couldn't find the episode here but just listened to the one on the different species of cicadas. This nerd scientist loved it! Perfect combo of biology and poetry. And the background was wonderful. :)

Sara, I'm trying to figure out a way to post a link in the comments to The Hell Carrot Bedtime Story. It's waaaaay back in the posts, January 23, 2018. That's the original. The good news is the sound got cleaned up, so it will sound so much better on the animation. Once that gets done. Looking into some subtle sound effects.
