OMG, guys, the next podcast is really scary! Like, we're working on it right now and scaring ourselves senseless doing so.

I'm warning you all first and trying to figure out how to put a warning on the title for all the subscribers. I know I have some listeners who like to be scared. If that's you, then you'll love this. But seriously, no driving or listening with little ones around. Headphones, lying on a couch with all the lights on is an idea.

I wrote the show to be unsettling, but Richard's sound effects really knock it out of the park. Oh, and a lot of those sound effects are me wearing the binaural mics doing various things. You'll know what I mean when you hear it.

If you want to listen, but don't want the crap scared out of you message me and I can give you a heads up on what to expect and when.

The photo is where we went last night. There was only one leaning streetlamp lighting the side of that little hut.

Shivering here, heart racing,

terrie

I'm usually for a good scare but yes, please if you could message me a warning or some things to be wary of I'd like a Head's Up.

I’m super excited! This is the content I like.

I can't wait! I love a good scare these days!

I can't wait to hear what you think. Several things in the works right now, so we're experimenting with storytelling and sound design.

I'm drawn to scary things, then I scare myself silly. Then I'm like, Ha! Survived that! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the episode. We're giving it some last minute tweaks, then putting it up.

That wasn’t so bad, the scream was pretty good. It’s funny watching older scary movies, and the screams being overly dramatic. I kind of knew where the story was going after a certain point. Whenever a narrator says that something could never possibly happen, you totally know without a doubt it can in a scary movie/story.

Yeah, it was straight up corny jump scare. My idea was just to leave it at the "there's no way a woman...." and finish up. Richard kept playing with it until it became what it is. And the carnival-esque music at the end made me crack up. Oh and putting in how he got me to scream at the very end was funny, too.

Jeffrey

I do like the new format. It felt educational but in a visceral way. So it really gives that quality of being there. The only thing was that for me, i agree that the carnival music is fun, but it also jumped me a little too far out of the experience and I didn't really want to do that. Or least I wanted to be eased out more slowly. But, I loved the ending behind the scenes clip at the end. Really though, he whole format I thought was really fun from beginning to end. I'm always amazed how much you manage to pack in in such a short amount of time. These always feel so full. And it's not like you are talking fast or anything. Keep up the good work. I look forward to future broadcasts.

It can't help myself but here's a caveat in defense of the ending music. I'm almost certainly judging it in the context of the warnings. Had they not been there or not given as strongly, I think I'd feel differently.

Jeffrey! Thank you so much for your feedback. Very helpful! Yeah, at first we didn't have any 'warnings' and the music was like an immediate comic note to lighten the mood. Then I remembered a lot of people who listen to the show use it to fall asleep and panicked. That would be the meanest thing to do to someone. Hence, Richard threw in that little warning at the beginning. I wonder if in that original bit Richard did, if he said something like, "If you stay through until the very end it will lighten up, I promise.", if that would work better? Overall, I think it's really funny. The over the top nature of it all, all the on the nose sound effects. Just imaging someone listening to it with headphones on, being calm, then that scream. Gyah! Thank you again so much. I love feedback and thoughts.

All in all, this episode is a nice step up in both entertainment and information (am running off to search for those shrines and the curse kits!). You seemed to vary the tone, pace, and drama in your voice more than usual. Enjoyed it a lot. Thanks!
