Hello and how are you all doing today/tonight?

A quick little update:

My new show (Soothing Stories Podcast) will be launching on February 11th (my birthday!).

We had to push the date back a little.

First off, we decided to start with three stories (episodes) instead of one, so more work there. Second off, Richard got a side gig doing the audio for the Japan Distilled (podcast about Japanese booze, it's quite good, btw!). Third off, Julyan is in a tough place as far as work goes (very long days, six days a week), so snagging him to do the music/sound has been difficult. He did, however, do the chill lofi music bed you can hear on the intro. Fourth off, we're also working on an intro video for Patreon which will include mention of both podcasts. Fifth off, our amazing Travis (http://travispixels.com/) who did the Uncanny Japan and the Soothing Stories logo is kind enough to also be working up a mashup of the two, so we'll have a new banner with both the adorbs jizo/oni AND the creepy moon. I didn't even have the idea to ask until very recently. I'm really excited about that.

I'll be putting the recordings  of the stories from that podcast up here, (minus the above intro) as soon as they're ready. It's just a bit of extra content that I hope you enjoy. Again, while the readings aren't always Japan related, they are great stories and a nice place to escape to now and again.

I'm also thinking of using that podcast to put up future audio dramas and the occasional short story I write that's not for a magazine or anthology. I'm kinda stoked to experiment with writing specifically for audio. So we'll see how that goes.

For now I just wanted to pop in and share the little audiogram thingy Richard made of the Soothing Stories Intro. I hope you like it. I'm quite smitten with the music.

XO,

Soothing Stories Podcast (Short Intro)

Here's the sneak peek to my new show, Soothing Stories Podcast. Launching February 11, 2021. Would you like me to tell you a Bedtime Story? Once a month, for my five dollar and up Patrons, I find obscure Japanese folktales that I translate, retell/reimagine, and then record with cool background music. Some are funny, some are creepy, and some are just weird. https://www.patreon.com/thersamatsuura/ Find and Support Me Here! ------------------- Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/thersamatsuura/ Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/48w03XsDsllY0I7wZYS6C1?si=lR4PVtqfQwy4kpKJl496lg Apple Podcasts - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/uncanny-japan-japanese-myths-folktales-superstitions/id1176549358 Twitter - https://twitter.com/uncannyjapan Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/uncannyjapan/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/uncannyjapan/ Website - https://www.uncannyjapan.com/ Author Page - https://www.thersamatsuura.com/

Neat!! Love the logo. I suggest you pick up the pace a bit even if it's supposed to be soothing. The long pauses between sentences are too much - breaks the flow.

I really like the intro. The music is really good. And for me, well I only bring it up cause it was already brought up, but the pacing of the intro didn't trouble me at all. For me personally, I like how it is. But, regardless, I look forward to hearing the stories! Be well.

That's a very appealing intro, the music is lovely! Also looking forward to the stories.
