Hello, how are you? v(^_^v)♪
I'm posting October's Bedtime Story, but it might sound a little different.
I've been asked quite a bit if I could publish some of the Bedtime Stories as standalone audio shorts, and I'm finally getting around to it. I talk about it more at the beginning of the latest episode (Ep. 110 Creepy Story Time: Hashihime), but basically that idea along with listeners who want to support but can't do a monthly thing, or don't want to, or don't like a subscription model, and I thought this very well might be a good and fun thing to do. It's been in the back of my head forever (...speaking of back of the head..."The Wife Who Didn't Eat", Lol). It's very similar to Bedtime Stories, but I'll be adding a longer commentary at the end of each story: bits of interesting research notes and thoughts, any deviations I made from the original tale, stuff like that. It won't be monthly, by any means, but when I get one done and get it ready, I'll publish it as an audio short.
Of course !!, all of you will get it here for free since you're already supporting. I guess the only difference for patrons is it'll be a less casual format and COOL COVER! 😂
The first one (attached here) is "The Wife Who Didn't Eat" / 食わず女房 which is a revamping of a story that was published in an anthology (The World of Horror) a couple years ago. The rights have reverted back to me so I did some rewriting and re-recorded.
If anyone has an idea for a story they'd like to hear 'retold' (I don't know why I added quotes there), feel free to let me know. I think the next one will be "Shuten Douji" which I've already started working on months ago and the got distracted by some butterfly or shadow on the wall.
Oh!! I'm also planning on doing all three Big Lady Ghosties. Oiwa, Okiku, and Otsuya.
Other news, I was asked to do another 12-part serialized story for Asahi Newspaper, so that's going to keep me busy for a bit. So I'm not sure if I can get Shuten Douji done by the end of the year, but maybe...?
I did a charity auction bidding for Clarion West and won some voice acting lessons with Cecil Baldwin (from Welcome to the Nightvale!). I am so nervous and excited. I just might faint.
All the love to all of you, XOXO,
Stay safe and well and I'll be posting some temple/shrine visit soon. I'm hoping to do a day trip somewhere cool sometime this week or next.
