Unfortunately, I didn't get to visit Yaizu Jinja for Setsubun this year. But I just remembered we went back in 2020 and took some video then.

I think I shared this something like three years ago, but I wanted to put back up in case some haven't seen it. I love watching archery 💕👹

Setsubun: Shooting the Oni at Yaizu Shrine

February 3rd in Japan is Setsubun. It's the day children pelt oni-ogres with roasted soybeans in order to drive away bad luck. Here members of the kyudo-archery club shoot the image of a blue oni to symbolize getting rid of sickness, bad luck, and weakness.

Me too 😍 I’ve fumbled with Iaido but I struggle with the starting position where you sit on your flat feet. Recently I found a club who does Kyudo? archery which seems more meditative. Hope I’ll find the time and courage 😊

Uncanny Japan -- Thersa Matsuura

Oh, I hope you try it out ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ. Kyudo is the one thing I never did here but was always wanting to try. At this point in the game I don't have the time or money, plus I'm pretty sure the only people my age doing it in Japan would be long time kyudo-ists. Not sure about that last word.
