I have to tell the story. It was weird.

Saturday I was sitting on the couch with my computer in my lap when something heavy hit the side of the house. What the?! I ran outside to see a postal delivery guy walking toward me. Odd. I gave him the once over, but it didn't look like he did it. The direction was all wrong. But also, hang on, I didn't order anything. What's that about? So I signed for the package, then went and checked the side of the house thoroughly. Nothing out of the ordinary there. I came in and put the package on the kitchen table and ran upstairs to the veranda. There the female crow was sitting on the the neighbor's roof looking at me. Aha.Was that you? She ruffled her feathers. This is where my deep south kicks in and I say, Bless your heart! See, there are a pair of crows who visit daily (more on that later), but the female just has the worst timing ever. Like I get it. I'm kind of that way and I know people who are even more that way. Always the timing is just a little off.As for the crow (Sweetpea), there have been three times where I went upstairs to hang out laundry or run into the bedroom to grab a book and at the EXACT SAME moment she was swooping in to check the bowl I leave on the air conditioner unit for peanuts. So we scare each other.

The male crow (Gobbler) is bigger, a bit of a derp, and not shy at all. He'll fly in when I'm close enough to touch him. But she's so skittish and careful and observant, yet still, her timing is just awful. I've seen her make very sloppy mid flight u-turns when we accidentally run into each other. So my theory is she was flying in to check for nuts, the postal dude got out of his truck and was walking toward the house and maybe distracted her...so she hit the house??!! Poor thing 😭 She's fine, though. I saw yesterday and today and she's acting fine. A bit of a headache, no doubt.

So anyway, I leave some peanuts for her because poor little bug had a flying accident and deserves some comfort food, then I hop on downstairs to tackle the second mystery! What's in the package!?

I'll show you what was in the package! I wasn't expecting this. 👀

Oh no poor girl! I’m glad she’s ok tho! And the book is looking awesome!

Poor Sweetpea. She sounds like an adorable klutz of a crow! The book looks awesome! How did it feel to hold it in your hands? The illustrations feel quite Studio Ghibli. Do you think?

Uncanny Japan -- Thersa Matsuura

The publisher very much wanted a ghibli feel. I was helping them look for artists and they didn't like all my darker-styled finds 😅 Quite surreal. Like half of me has been living it for so it's exactly what I imagined and the other half is like, woah, it's real?

Omg! The book looks amazing! I want it so bad!

I guess that a Ghibli look is familiar and will sell. Hopefully there will also be a chance for darker stuff at another point.

You might enjoy putting up a trail cam. I occasionally put it in our small yard, to see what critters show up at night, or check what the mice in the attic are up to

Richard bought one awhile back and told me he'd put it up for me. I need to ask again. I could watch them all day. I'm guessing nesting season is coming up and I want to leave out little things they can possibly use, see what they do. Oh, and they always yeet my carrots. That would be funny to watch. 😂
