I saw the ending "day one" as going back in time. Wasn't the guy who woke Abby up Owen? Who Ellie killed, the way i watched, I wasn't sure who was shot... i also have not played the game so....

Never played the games, nor watched the second (only saw a bit of Jay’s playthrough of the first one)… The ending was pretty rough. I’m inclined to agree you’re better off ending on the gunshot and cut to black, but I also don’t know how you signal to the audience that you’re going to Abby next. That scene might’ve landed better if we had more reason to care about her throughout this season, but because we only got the bare minimum to understand her perspective, it just felt awkward and not inviting (in the “I want to see this story” way) after that cut to black. I do know the game has you play both Ellie and Abby, and this feels like a weird way to adapt that transition. Also…yeah, that scene at the aquarium…that wasn’t easy to watch…

Yeah so I’m pretty much done with the show. I didn’t play the game but watched a video of it, didn’t like the story of the game and I don’t like the show even more. I really dislike the character Abby but don’t really like Ellie either. She’s so selfish and keeps putting other people she is supposed to care about at risk. Now that Jesse is gone, Dina, Tommy & Maria are the only characters I like. Not planning to watch S3, especially with how the story ends, and I really don’t feel like having to follow Abby’s story now.

Man I watched this when it came out, then finally decided to watch Hot D, and then I watched this again... so much birth trauma, lmfao

No that was manny who woke her up but yes it's going back to show Abbys side after episode 2 and what she was doing. Her story is actually really good in the game so I'm exited to see how they are going to bring it to live action.

As mad as the Boys are, it was nothing compared to HAVING TO THEN PLAY ABBY FOR HOURS!!! I had to put down the controller when that happened and didn't get back to it for almost 2 weeks I was so disgusted and repelled by the idea of playing her.

So you have watched about 14 hours of Ellie and Joel. For people who played the game at this point some had sunk HUNDREDS OF HOURS into their story across two games. And then Joel gets killed and Ellie apparently gets shot and then you have an unknown amount of time having to play as ABBY????? It was *soulcrushing* to have to do that, and even just watching it here my body was all clenched up waiting for what I knew was going to happen.
