I binged this during COVID. For months after this episode, I would go about the day and the intrusive thought would enter my brain that Kanan was dead. It was that impactful for me.

Poor Jay, he never made it out of the mustard 😂

I had a horrible feeling this was going to happen with Kanan, since he really couldn't be around for the classic trilogy, but I never expected it to happen this EARLY. I expected it in the finale or something. Btw Jay, Dark Forces just got a massive official remastered re-release on all platforms. I'm hoping we get Jedi Knight next!

This is probably my 5th or 6th re-watch of Rebels, but now with you guys. The first time was completely unexpected, but the whole episode felt conveyed in a way that it was making it seem like it was Kanan's inevitable conclusion. His end was completely necessary for the evolution of the rest of the Ghost crew and you see that throughout the course of their stories. Also, Jay, you are 100% correct in thinking that the Death troopers voice comms are encrypted. They used encrypted communications to prevent enemies from deciphering their battle tactics and intelligence. The second part is that hearing their scrambled voices can also intimidate enemies.

That first instance of Kanan stopping the flames sends chills down my spine, every time. And each time I watch this episode, it sticks with me for days after. Such a fantastic and well earned moment of sacrifice.

I heard it referenced randomly in internet posts and I of course didn’t know at the time which part of Star Wars Kanan was a part of. No reference for him. I blew through what I had left of Clone Wars and all of Bad Batch before “Ahsoka” came out. I had a solid enough time for Rebels too, but I became totally obsessed and sailed through it. About an episode or two in, I realized it must be him. I was horrified. Not long after, I looked up exactly when this was going to happen because I simply could NOT be blind sighted by it. I can handle most surprises and I don’t like spoilers, but I just needed to know. I was far too attached to Kanan already. I did not watch the scene through though. When I got to this episode I was on edge the whole time, and I still bawled. This is actually the first time I didn’t cry, because I was watching you all so hard. I have only managed to watch it a few times within a lot more rewatches. Very few character deaths have affected me like this even amid me being a drama queen who cries at everything. Like, EVERYTHING. I’m much worse than Jay. 😉 I lost my Dad at 13 unexpectedly, so any young mentor death is probably gonna mess me up. Even though I simply can’t be the Harry Potter fan I was, it’s Kanan and Sirius Black near the top, if not the top. I don’t hate their arcs, I know what the story is. Emotionally, I’m just a wreck.

I balled when watching The Rise of Skywalker and I heard Kanan's voice during Rey's battle. I was watching at home and when I first heard his voice I had to go back with subtitles on. Completely lost it 😭

I will never not sob rewatching this. Kanan is truly one of the best characters to come out of SW Also I’m wondering if finally heading towards the end of rebels means there might be a revisit to…..atla … maybe …. Just maybe ….. Also I really need a tall boy Diet Coke I didn’t know they had those
