Ok, Adam I 100% agree The Orville is the best Star Trek since the 90’s. The first season alone not as much it really went comedy first sci-fi second. I love that Seth wanted to change that and he made it sci-fi first and then comedy. That damn show made me ugly cry… it’s a travesty that there is not more.

Jay asked why he was mining. It was because he needs a plausible reason to have high tier loot that he wants to sell without raising too many questions. Since he's still rank E, joining a mining team means he could claim he found the loot when mining and people maybe wouldn't question it.

Pcat

That never made sense to me as surely the mining contract would stipulate all loot would go to the guild. After all that is what they are being paid to do, loot the dungeon for the guild . Him showing up with an extremely powerful artifact that he should have had no way of getting would only be more suspicious.

I think if a store owner did a quick look at his raids they would see several e and d's 20 c's and now an a rank dungeon. It might not show miner without digging into it.

They actually did mention Jinwoo's dad! In like, the very first episode he mentions that he has to take care of his mom and sister because his dad disappeared. Granted that was I think the only time until he shows up.

Lower Decks is also some excellent Trek. The first couple of episodes were a little rough as it felt a bit too much like trying to meet a corporate mandate to have a Star Trek Rick and Morty. But once they settled into their groove it became really top tier. You can see the love the writers have for the property with all the easter eggs, and a lot of the episodes are very much Trek problems with Trek solutions, just with the average zaniness level a little higher. And the Lower Decks + Strange New Worlds crossover episode is an all-timer.
