Heh. As they said in GOT, “if you think this story has a happy ending…” They warn ya! It’s time to get into the final season. Next season isn’t gonna be pretty. You will get ALL the dragon fighting you want… I promise. Anyway - took notes but am gonna try to curate a bit. Which still means a lot, but I definitely cut at least half of them 😅 - Daemon and Rhaenyra speaking Valyrian could be a show in itself. - Baela both had a point but also IS kind of to blame for a couple of things herself. - GUYS the actor who plays Daeron is our Link in the Legend of Zelda movie! He has some great acting chops it seems. - A main reason why Rhaenyra sent away Mysaria is that she was clearly trying to get between her and Daemon, as well as advising against everything he suggested. After Aegon “resurrected,” Rhaenyra became determined to be strong and convinced Mysaria was steering her wrong (and she’s not entirely incorrect). - Love Alys the Immortal. Hoping at some point we can get some more Children of the Earth content, even if not in this series. - Rhaenyra’s armor was handcrafted by a master armorer and it SHOWS. It’s so cool. - All of Rhaenyra’s sons are Targaryens - but the oldest three were not Velaryons (though Joffrey actually kind of looks like Laenor?) - I’m super sad for dragon friends to die eventually :( - Corlys’ plan would have worked if Aegon hadn’t risen again. Just as Daemon could have avoided a burnt town if Ulf hadn’t defected. - Ser Roderick Dustin (Stark badass) is the absolute best and got all the best moments of the episode. - Alyssane Blackwood is the badass archer lady and is the ancestor of GOT’s House Stark — Ned’s great-X-grandmother. She rules. - Rhaenyra basically killed the Pope and then looked mad in front of her people. She obviously has SOME kind of break happening after all this loss, but I’m betting this moment is when the “Targaryen madness” idea truly started - I saw someone on Threads say that Ulf is basically a human Sheepstealer. Chaotic and loyal to nothing but his dragon and his ale. Will attack when he feels like it and without morals. - Ormund getting got by both a sword up the ass AND dragon fire was so satisfying; and Ser Roderick found his own satisfying death. (Fun fact - an old timey deposed English King was supposedly killed by a sword up the anus. GRRM bringing in those deep medieval cuts — literally.) - That window is the same window Tommen jumps out of in GOT — also, arguably, the sweetest and most innocent character. It’s an intentional mirror. - Rhaenyra’s cold closing of the window is meant to have that impact on ya. It’s a direct reflection of her shift in her heart and her methods. This is how Valyria met its Doom. This is why we have all those warnings about dragons changing your nature, the dangers of too much power or the wars of power. The dragons are needed to fight the winter, but caution must be taken lest you cause another Doom instead.
