Hey Peaches! We're gearing up for the release of Untraveled Scotland edition! In celebration we're watching Highlander for the first time. We visited Castle McCloud while in Scotland so we had to see the movie that started it all. Does it hold up after all this time?

its Charming, the movie lives in that sweet spot, its an r rated movie that your dad let you watch, It was sword fighting immortals, but as a ten year old, it was AWESOME!

OH HELL YEAH! Everything is cancelled for the next 2hrs. As it is midnight and I just headed to bed, that is sleep.

Please tap into your inner MST3K and watch Highlander II: The Quickening.

Originally a French film star, this was only Christopher Lambert’s second English language movie. He had to learn many of the lines phonetically, thus the odd pronunciation and stilted delivery. Why hire a Frenchman to play Scottish and a Scot to play Spanish? It was the ‘80’s and everyone was on coke is my best guess. I love this movie: it is terribly good.

This was also my first time watching this movie, which is wild as a kid who was born in 1983 and fucking loves sword and sorcery shit. I agree with you both on every single thing. McCloud was PAINFUL to watch and listen to! How did he get more movies! I DO NOT AGREE WITH YOU ON BUFFY but I can say that as a weird history nerd I am totally with sword enthusiast… I’d have jumped in that sack so fast if I had been single and met an ancient Highlander with a lot of cool swords and artifacts 😅😅

The Great GazB

"I'm not Spanish, I'm Egyptian." Direct quote from the film 🤣

dasgrove

Your right. Makes even less sense to hire a Scot to play an Egyptian named Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez, who is commonly known as The Spaniard. Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

it is ironic that the movie about an immortal spawned an immortal franchise. It will not die. speaking of terrible movies where the soundtrack was made by queen can we please get Flash Gordan. I also would love to watch you guys watch Highlander II.

That was a straight-up Terrance vs Brooke Shields in South Park: BLU level Slap. 10/10, no notes.

2:02:16… Brand new sentence?

You do need to watch the Highlander series to see the concept done right.

If they do this. They need to watch the theatrical cut. The newer version fixes too much. I want to see them really go at the original version I had to watch.

Billy Alston

I saw your comment about 30 minutes ago. I have never watched the Renegade cut but I looked up the differences and watched a video comparing the two versions. It doesn't seem like the changes in the Renegade make things any better, specifically in relation to the background of the Immortals. Unfortunately from my brief bit of looking online, it appears that the Theatrical Cut is not available to stream or even on DVD/Blu-Ray only the Renegade.

Couple things about the Highlander series: 1. The pilot does a decent job setting up the premise (Immortal of the Week), but does have some rough spots. 2. It's an alternate Highlander universe, because in a later episode they directly mention Connor killing the Kurgan, but no prize and there are still plenty more immortals.

Kates

Please do Highlander 2. I've never seen it due do how bad I heard it is, bit would love the excuse to watch and laugh about it.

That slap will make me subscribe for a year! LMAO!

I was going to say, he's a Spanish Egyptian played by a Scotsman. lol

Julia F

Noo, don't torment them like this! H2 is the only movie I've seen in the theater, where I told people to wait for it to come to cable, then go out and rent something else to watch instead!
