Hey Peaches! The War for the ring is here. With the Manhunter outted and the vengeful aliens alerted, Rushville is about to become a battle zone. Can Hal put a stop to all the violence and complete the mission to take out the Manhunter? Or will John's mission to take the ring from Hal get in the way? But the even better question is 'how does all this lead into the events of 2026'?

"That's not how mystery solves"

Feels like a finale. But it's really the midpoint of John's arch. The midpoint, where the main character has a revelation or learns or decides something that changes the course of their path. And the proper finale will be when John gets the ring, not because it's his destiny but because HE wants to, HAS to, to be a hero. Apparently it was supposed to be Ep4 originally, with the flashback to John's past being Ep5 which supports that. But I think this way works better for us to understand his thoughts and decision here. I still think Checkov's Halogram will be super important. My theory is that he made a new backup just before going back.

Hal is Sinestros protege and Sinestro is also Abin Surs best friend, so the biggest threat to them is Hal who is already dissobeying orders, so they need Hal off the board and out of power.

The general consensus for this episode was that it felt like a finale. But yet there's 3 episodes left. I have no idea where this will go and that's actually extremely exciting. I'm thinking who killed Hal in the present, since there's almost nobody left who would want him dead, apart from Noah maybe?.

I'm feeling the manhunter storyline is basically done. rest of the show will cover Hal's death (probably that kid is involved) and maybe some of his origin story . and how John gets a ring.

I've never seen Adam's face so pinched up in suspicion and disbelief lol. It seems like he adamantly refuses to accept what the show is telling us, everything is a triple-fakeout. The blame ultimately lies with the Guardians for all of this, but Hal did go rogue. He attacked John to sideline him in order to grab the glory for himself, he refused to loop in the Guardians or call for any kind of backup, he pitted Antaan against Macon which he knew would be a bloody battle, and he went after Zoe on his own which resulted in substantial collateral damage. Some might argue that the townspeople were not exactly innocent because they took up arms to protect the Manhunter, but the man who was minding his own business at the motel was certainly innocent. Also, what about all the rest of the children in the town that have no idea what is going on. Hal is not a hero in this show, he has fallen from grace and shows Jon the danger of pursuing this path.

Like Jay said, if this story was a comic it would be one you wait for the trade for and then read all in one night. I knew this would happen because one of the lead writers/producers is Tom King who I don't think has ever written a story that WASN'T meant to be read in the trade all in one night (for better and worse)

that was not what I took away from Hal's intentions with his plan for the final confrontation at all. It felt like to me he was following exactly what Sinestro told him to do, and find a way to make sure he resolved the issue without John getting credit or being able to tell the Guardians about it. The fact that with all this going on his still went out of his way twice to taunt John about not being able to replace him seems like a huge giveaway to his headspace and intentions. I think Adam is also misremembering, but in a lot of the Lantern comic runs the Guardians are also assholes. That is not new or different, so the Guardians being assholes could be part of the remaining mystery but it could just as easily just be the direction for this worlds Lantern Core going forward. Being cold, detached assholes fits more in line with a people that would create something like the Manhunters than being thoughtful caring stewards of space. This would make sense with Guy having the ring right now and the 2026 mystery will result in Stewart getting the ring back most likely. And as someone who watched Green Lantern cartoon as a kid and read some of Tom King's comics, having a midpoint mystery that leads into personal or thematic connections to later mystery in the run is pretty common. Obviously something about this case is what has led to Hal's death in 2026, from the lines dropped in this episode it probably has something to do with Zoe's grandkid. I think the grandkid is the Sheriff's "Miracle" that Zoe gave her and I think everything Zoe "taught" him has to do with being a Manhunter. Wondering if he is the first/only successful biological Manhunter

I am totally with you -- there is something more serious behind the guardians need to get that ring off of Hal's finger, what is it? Similar to Sinestro, they could have simply had some other guardian bring Hal in. Much of the last 10 years of Hal's journey can be inferred (he's extremely jaded in 2016) but I am curious if the show will explore it in the last 3 eps. The show runners ascribed Hal's connection to the ring becoming an addiction. He's dependent on it so far as that's all he thinks he is/knows. And look what it causes you when you let the dependency go to far. The magic word for me is: priorities. Hal's priority this season has been keeping the ring. That led him to completely miscalculate Zoe's response and impact to innocent people. Abin Sur escaped with the manhunter to earth and was killed...by that manhunter! And in 2016, the guardians seem unfazed by the fact that there's a manhunter on earth at all. So what changed? Why are they prioritizing Hal's demotion over catching a sentient robot that is designed to destroy communities in the name of justice? And finally...if Hal was NOT the green lantern in 2026, why the heck had he returned to Rushville and that spot?

Everyone says this feels like a finale. Well it is, for the 2016 storyline that dominated the first part of the season. BUT we were clearly introduced to a 2nd storyline in 2026 in ep 1. 2026 is when the shiz really goes down and the overall mystery is solved. I've seen so many people defending Hal and condemning Zoe. I think we'll wind up seeing how morally complex this whole debacle is.

I want an entire Guy Gardner episode

Venom

My biggest thing is in an earlier episode how the, "Guardian". used fear instantly when John started to question in the hotel. I thnk she's a Qwuardian, he takes the ring in the wrong way, its corrupts it or possibly Oa I bet. Which could be an epic setup for seasons and movies.
