I agree with the end point - I have really enjoyed this series, but for me the interpersonal conflict about Vision and the rest of the Maximoff family has sucked me in a lot more than the more sci-fi AI portion.

Ultron was created from Jarvis code with Jarvis, Tony and banner. The origins of Jarvis code is from jocosta and human ultron which was taken from the work of phenius. Vision was created by Ultron and the infinity stone. Phenius created the first A.I jocosta and human ultron created Artificial General Intelligence which gives AI the ability to feel feelings like fear, anger, happiness and love. Then tony bought the company or the program and renamed the A.G.I Jarvis.

As a complete side note, I really hope Lisa maintains some level of technomancy via the reprogrammed nanobot in her head.

Regarding the ending, this is the second Terry Matalas show I've watched (other being Star Trek Picard season 3) and both have been super similar with stringing out the bad guy reveal until the very end of the season

So maybe, the client whoever he is, was close enough to Jo to synthesize himself as well BEFORE the AI went to Tony thereby polluting the code with a far less stable character, the mind stone possibly booted up the Ultron code as objectively he was the strongest on offer at the time. Maybe?

Ultron said in episode three… I believe? When he was talking to Edith, that he doesn’t know why he took on that visage, it just felt right. He doesn’t know who he comes from, he thinks he’s an original created by Tony. Phineas‘s daughter left for New York with her mom, and clearly at some point Phineas‘s daughter had a family of her own and whoever James Spader‘s character is coming out of the mansion at the end, that must be her son, Phineas‘s grandson. Whatever his goals are with working with JOCASTA, likely his ideas with utilizing the tech are far less altruistic than Jo. He likely is the one that wanted to sell the technology to Stark, and with that sale he was able to buy back his family’s home that Phineas sold decades earlier. Ultron was clearly based on himself, though since Ultron has been on his own in visions mindscape, he has developed more of a conscience than his maker. I don’t think Ultron killed Friday, I think he booted her from JOCASTA’ mind so that she wouldn’t get trapped when they were shut down and she could be on the outside to help.
