Hey Peaches! Welcome to a new adventure in a land we know quite well. Be prepared for action, suspense, and a lot of tension. This is a jammed packed hour of Halo-y goodness, that takes a few really strong swings that makes this show it's own thing. So far, so good. We can't wait for next week.

Loved the reaction guys. On the topic about chief taking his helmet off. He does it a lot I the book and has done it in the games before. We as the players just haven't seen his face. Makes sense that in this show we would see what the other characters see.

RedMarten

I had bad stream quality for this too. Are we sure Paramount Plus is a real streaming service?

Adam the beard has to come back and we need the hair cut too!

A lot of the the shot styles just seems like higher budget CW... and some of the inconsistency on CGI is mind boggling considering the budget. Actually a lot of the show just doesn't seem to matchup with the budget...BUT at least they didn't do the cowboy bebop live action thing of straight up shooting in what looks like a Long Island Suburb or a random industrial space in Brooklyn. They tried to make unique looking spaces and architecture (and actually having the prophet talking and moving was probably expensive lol) I was surprised overall, and I'll wait until the next episode to judge the writing. Hopefully it keeps exceeding my originally very negative expectations.

Every time I click the link I get an"Unable to Play Video" message.

I am only 15 minutes in, but felt I had to put a few things down before I watch the rest. 1. Paramount+ is awful. I got a free month with Gamepass and will pay the bare minimum to finish and then I am done. 240p quality with stuttering and no way to change quality settings (in browser, works ok on xbox). 2. How in the world is this TV-14? Already seen multiple human limbs blown or cut off, one sliced in half. And then they top it off with Elites getting their heads blown off or impaled and lifted. The TV-14 thing had me worried but it seems I don't need to be for that. CG and effects so far are good at times and meh at others (when the quality lets me see whats going on), but its not a huge deal for me.

A couple of little issues here and there... but overall LOVED it

Show really saved itself during the last 25 minutes i mean seriously close call there! I think this show is undercut by Paramount plus not having a true 4k premium ad free package, Or at least not one known by many. I think the CGI would have been helped a little more with a true 4k, Never the less this show still manages to pull through all of that in spectacular fashion with the hero being Master Chief! Great Job, Looking forward to episode 2.

I can just tell again by the marketing that the show red versus blue made by rooster teeth seasons one through 13 are probably gonna be better than this one season

I have no connection to the Halo franchise at all, but I was curious from the trailer that it looked good enough to give it a shot (also helps I am using my brother's P+ account so literally free to me). I was a little worried going in and had some stream quality issues early in the episode, but most of that smoothed out enough that I could actually enjoy watching it. I was a little surprised that they did the helmet take off right away, as I assumed it would be at the end of the season (like Mandolorian). I don't know much about Halo, but I know in the games you never see his face. I liked the reveal though, as the boys said, for TV you're going to need to do it, and doing it there felt very right. Loved the reaction. The looks on your faces when shit started going down was the best. Can't wait to watch the rest of this with you guys.

Miranda Keyes was always the daughter of Halsey and commander Keyes.

Billy Alston

There is an ad-free plan for Paramount +

Bethlee Swanson

I know nothing from Halo, but I like this. Hopefully it'll stay good.

Ellie

Never played the games but I thought this was a good first episode. Lots of badassery and some good story exposition, I'm in!

Oldbadegg

I’ve been a halo fan ever since original Xbox I loved this episode I look forward to see where the story go’s

Andrew Dickinson

this is going to be so annoying, as the UK won't get this until IIRC September when Paramount comes to the Sky Movies collection..

Keith Jones

The "less ads" version of Paramount just sometimes has an add at the beginning of the episode. I got it a while back for the wife...and ended up liking the Star Trek over it.

Keith Jones

Also, for video quality...you have to end up watching this on an app. It looks great on my TV via Roku, but looks like garbage on my PC on the same network.

David Machiavello

Great first episode! I’m hooked. Awesome reaction as always. Loved the sound design too, sounded like the game. Hearing the shield alert sound and recharge sucked me right in.

Seth Bledsoe

Any reason y'all chose not to put this one on YouTube? Worried about a strike? Other reactors have posted it and seem to be doing ok.

Joseph Duba

Yo...yo...yo...I've been a dir hard halo fan since day one, and I must say this first episode was freaking AWESOME

techagek

I was on the fence when I saw the trailer, but undoubtedly an amazing first episode to this 9-part Season 1. I've actually been waiting for some sort of Halo TV show for over 15 years - I remember talking about it when I was in school then it went through development hell for several years. I'm glad to finally be able to watch it, and even more so with you guys.

CR

I thought it was excellent! I've played the games and read the novels and I don't know how people disliked it. Its just people that have beef with the creators of the show and some of the things they've said. It's sad. From what I remember, he removes the helmet several times in the novels. I was somewhat unsure of him removing it, but it was for a seriously good reason. Master Chief had to show his humanity to Kwan and that he was willing to trust her in that moment. It was a fantastic scene and a huge moment! P.S. Not sure if yall knew this or not, but the show has already gotten renewed for a Season 2!

Jonathan Frederick

When I try to do the halo theme it turns into Ace Ventura "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHLLLLLLLLLRIGHTYYYY THEEEEEEN"

SgtSwede

Buddy have guest starred in NCIS and Sarah in NCIS Los Angeles

Seth Bledsoe

Adam, you're right and wrong about Paramount+. Yes, they are terrible at marketing and don't have much beyond the crappy CBS content. However, the few originals that they've put out this year are actually pretty good. 1883(Yellowstone prequel), Mayor of Kingstown, and now Halo.

Scott Klages

I know nothing of Halo (sorry I'm a God of War, Tomb Raider type lol), but even I wanted to see this show. And even after hearing all the negative things about it, I thought it was incredible! As for Paramount , They dont have alot but what they do have is good, I thought Picard was very good and I suggest it to anyone curious about it, especially if you're a ST: TNG fan

Seth Bledsoe

Jay, the minigun damage makes sense if you take into account shield depletion.

Chris Smith

Guys, Paramount+ has all the Star Trek stuff. It has all the old shows and all the new. The only really bad new Star Trek has been the first season of discovery but they fixed it.

Droid Herder

So that clone in the beginning - in order to create Cortana, Halsey flash cloned herself so her neural pathways could be integrated into Cortona. The scanning process destroys the brain, so that's why she needed clones. And, if I'm not mistaken, one of the games refers to Cortana's origin also using some forerunner technology.... and guess what John just got his hands on :)
