Hey Peaches! New cast, who dis? Hope y'all we're too attached to the younger versions of some of the main cast, cause they've grown up. And apart. It's been ten years since episode 5 and a lot has changed. Alicent and Sir Cristen have formed the 'I Hate Rhaeynra' club. And Alicent is trying to force her children to join the club, even though they'd much rather be doing other things. Like getting a dragon, and staring out windows.  Rhaeynra is doing her best to act like the Heir Apparent, and Damon is off in Pentose with his new family. Oh, and dragons. Lots and lots of dragons.

Did you guys know that Aegon is David Tennant's stepson?!? Doctor Who Represent!

Luck Dragon's Lair

I wonder if HBO changed something because 2:19 is past the HBO thing and into the blood montage :) With Emma D'arcy's name on the screen. (Either that or Jay was right? Nahhh.... :P)

Luck Dragon's Lair

Also you guys keep name-dropping me... :P Always good to show respect for the Luck Dragon. ;)

Timing was perfect for me at 2:19!

I gotta say, I agree with Jay on the mood for the show. It's a great show, sure, but man, do I feel dread before watching it. I look forward to the slow burn and epic tale of Rings of Power, whereas HotD just makes me feel anxious. I have to mentally prepare myself before turning it on.

Yes, the bloodlines in the opening credits have been changing/evolving every episode based on what's happening. This ep is the most obvious cuz, well, 10 years happened.

Last year I lost a friend who died after an emergency C-Section to save her baby because she contracted COVID and her body was failing. So I can definitely empathize with the pain this brings Jay and to so many others that wish the feelings of dread we get from scenes like that could only stay in the realm of fiction. And that is not a knock on the show as everyone involved is doing the hell of their job. Love having the show back to this level and will keep coming back if all the parts remain this consistently great, but damn the emotional hangover the next day. At the end of the day I just remember the warning that one bastard gave us and try to embrace the ride. “If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.” -That one bastard

Yeah this is not an uplifting show. It is compelling drama though, plus dragons! Vhagar should have had more screen time. I'd love to have seen Laena becoming her rider. She's the oldest and biggest dragon in existence because she came over with Aegon the Conqueror. The only dragon bigger than Vhagar was Balerion, who was Aegon I's dragon and was ultimately passed on to Viserys as his dragon before Balerion died of old age at 200 years old.

Totally appreciate questioning the point of watching a show so dark and uncomfortable. I literally feel sick after a lot of these episodes. But frankly real life is often so messed up and disturbing as well, I think I find it cathartic to see that represented on screen.

You can definitely tell that there are more women on the team by how visceral and real it all is. Laena did say she wanted a dragonriders death.
