So again, this episode came out shortly after 9/11. The airport security protocols significantly increased, and air traffic greatly slowed down, leading to financial issues for the airlines. The federal government bailed out the airlines to the tune of billions of dollars. For many people knowing that billions of dollars of tax payer money was given to the airlines, along with the increased wait times for security, and what seemed like a bunch of random and pointless rules, was frustrating to say the least; hence, the whole IT isn't as bad as dealing with the airlines.
