When Wilhelm is at the castle and when he's leaving it shows the big differences in their lives. While Wilhelm is money rich, he's family poor and Simon is the opposite. As soon as Wilhelm made the statement his mother wanted she was in the wind. She didn't even come to tell him goodbye same with his dad. Now that Erik's gone, no one in his family actually cares about how he feels. His mother telling him that she cares more about her legacy than her child says everything we need to know about her. Simon's mother is all about protecting him, making him feel better and getting justice for him. Wilhelm's mother is all about making him a lifeless drone...a obedient lifeless drone.
