Hello everyone. It's Ned Brush. Paint sound in Max For Live. I took the MetaSynthy Baz idea and swapped out the webcam for a simple paint thing. Quick and dirty interface but room for development. A bit of retro sound design stuff. Download attached. See you soon.

watch the whole way through, the payoff is at 10:15 :D did you know about her? is that what influence this?

RelativeEntropy326

You do realize that Daphne Oram is the god mother of edm and electronic music right? she created the orignal dr. who theme for the bbc...

RelativeEntropy326

So, who do you think could make a better knock off of the doctor who theme by week's end using your gizmo?!? up for the challenge??? mwahahaha talk to me - highball and you append three two six to it at google's service. ping me. i'm handy with programming and max - been messing with it for years (granted, it's been a couple years since though, but i get the gist of the patch) to make music with it it will need to have an option for a single axis, etc. wow, my brain's churning on how to make this a playable instrument... first thoughts, just provide a folder parameter and just do reads of of sequential image files? protocol for the files? y-axis pitch, x-axis time, precise pixel widths to provide accurate timings? blah, blah, blah, email me if your game....

Actually, no, it WAS Daphne Oram, Delia Derbyshire came along AFTER but she did expand on Oram's ideas, but it was Daphne Oram's brain child. Watch the video link I posted earlier, this one: https://youtu.be/yMvP-cxjPpo?si=68SyGba1SO4RlCMh. Please watch it. It explains the actual history as told by the BBC themselves. ;) at exactly 10:14 in the video you will see Daphne Oram standing next to her "oramics" machinee. Here is another direct link to the origins of the machine: https://www.daphneoram.org/oramicsmachine/ Cheers...

Oh, actually, i just realized we're squabbling over semantics. Oram created her machine and was the god mother of EDM. but Derbyshire was charged with writing the theme for Dr. Who. I had just recently went down the BBC rabbit hole a couple of weeks ago. ;) It was a fascinating story! I recommending digging further into the BBC archives!
