Today I’ve been practicing my live set for Brighton on Saturday. It’s a fairly basic but flexible setup with some old tricks and a couple of new ones that have opened up doors for me. I was thinking of recording a video explaining the setup and posting it only here on Patreon, so like this post if you’d like to see that.

do you bring the weave? Hey here's a question. what if they are shining green light on you ? dont the pads disappear? do you bring a white light for your controllers?

Jamie Lidell

green is rarely used.. blue is often used...

I believe I speak for us all when I say we would very much indeed enjoy a video in which you go into your live rig in detail yes thank you Ned woo!

Ned Rush

I’m hoping to ask for no lights at all as I have a funky oscilloscope I made in Max I want on the screen behind me.

Spencer Davis

Would love to see how you set up your Live session, especially how you set it up to transition between different songs... live.

I want to post a gif of Mr burns twiddling his fingers saying Yesss but I guess I’ll just explain it

Ned Rush

The tricky thing is always when you’ve finish a draft of a setup and run it through, there’s always this thing in the back of my mind that’s saying “ooo I could add more and make it better” but really it’s good to just say “that’ll do”.

Interzoneboy

There are many ways to do everything, so a view onto the setup of someone who actually does this would be EXTREMELY useful. I also never know when to say "that'll do".

Yeah, I would love to see how you set up and play with your life setup. What are the constants what are the variables? How to go from one song into the next? Is everything in 1 ableton session? Or do you use also AUM or Loopy Pro?

Alex

Do you prefer these controllers to the Push?

Ned Rush

Depends on the context. I’ve always liked the apc mini for small live sets cause it does lots of stuff and is very small. The Push is kind of like a minivan. 🚐

Lars5k

instead of Novation launchpad I use the Novation XL with akai apc mini mk2. it's a really handy setup

curtis gamble

taking albeton out live has always been my final boss lol

Monty

I used to hit play then twiddle the knobs but everything was locked lol. Be great to see how ppl actually do it

Monty

I met ceephax in Belfast and had a beer with him and asked him about his setup. It looked mad. But he said not to be afraid to press play sometimes, especially if you wanna have a beer. He knows his 909 inside out to be fair to him
