ROSEN QUEEN JOURNAL #5 (Patreon)

So, Angelus (or Angel? I don’t know why he shortened it—like, what’s wrong with keeping the whole name? Did the “us” part feel too evil? Was it a branding decision?) has been on my mind. I don’t know much about him except that he’s apparently a “good guy” now, which is super weird when you consider he was the Angelus, as in “scariest vampire around other than the Master.”

Dude had a body count and a reputation. Now he’s just… Angel.

Like, “Hello, I’m here to help,” instead of “Hello, I’m here to eat your family.”

I don’t get it, honestly. Vampires like him don’t do “good guy.” It's hard to shift away from the instincts after decades of indulging, not even talking about centuries of slaughter. So the idea of Angelus—sorry, Angel—turning over a new leaf and helping Slayers is just… confusing.

Speaking of Mr. Ash, he’s still out on business, and I’m not complaining.

He’s a good boss, way better than vampires, but I’m not gonna lie—he kinda scares me. Like, sure, he gives us room and blood and doesn’t kill us for being screw-ups, but he’s also got this vibe that says, “You’re all on thin ice.” He doesn’t even like vampires much. I heard him tell Mr. Harris that we’re “egotistical blood rats without the demon power to back it up” and “what you get when you mix a human’s repressed sociopathy and ego with demon instincts and kick out the empathy.”

Yikes.On a completely unrelated note, working at Rosen Queen has been… weirdly helpful. Like, older vampires don’t bully me anymore when they find out where I work. You’d think they’d laugh at me for being an “intern,” but nope. As soon as I drop the Rosen Queen name, they shut up real fast. Apparently, even vampires know better than to mess with Rosen Queen employees. It’s like wearing a “don’t even think about it” badge.

I still don’t get how this place works. Like, there’s a portal on the third floor that leads to an entire warehouse district. The library is bigger than most schools. And I’m pretty sure I saw a lich in Accounting last week. I think his name was Steve. I don’t know what Steve does, but he wears a tie, so I’m assuming it’s important.

Anyway, the nightlife in town has been quiet since the Master died. No big fights, no turf wars. Just… silence. Which is weird for Sunnydale. It’s giving me time to work on the game, though, so I’m not complaining.

Angel’s gonna be a boss fight, I think. Or maybe a companion character who helps you out when things get rough. I don’t know yet. He’s interesting, though. A vampire trying to be good. Weird, but interesting. Maybe I’ll make him super overpowered to mess with the players.
