Art Week, Sickness & 30 Minutes Before Suspension
This week was a lot.
I went to Art Week in Mexico City with a full schedule of exhibitions and events… and canceled about 70% of it because I got sick the first day I arrived.
I felt out of place at a fancy house opening.I felt anxious at an oversold party.I spent a day in bed sneezing at everything.
And then Saturday came.
Four hours inside the experience tent at Sonic Jungle.Teaching.Tying.No breaks. So many people. So much rope.
Then half an hour before my suspension performance, my model quit.
She had a bad experience at the entrance and decided not to perform. Understandable. But I was exhausted. And I almost cried.
Instead, I went behind the tent, pulled myself together, and asked Crystal to be my model. She had never been suspended before.
We changed the whole flow.I let go of my original flower vision.I chose safer, more comfortable ties. The performance was shorter.Different.Improvised.
And it was beautiful.
I feel very proud of myself.
Not because it was perfect. But because I handled it.
I didn’t collapse.I didn’t cancel.I adapted.
And I think that’s what being a professional really means.
I’m attaching the performance video here so you can see it.
This is the real behind-the-scenes life of being an artist.
Messy.Tired.Beautiful.Strong.
Tell me in the comments:Have you ever had to improvise when everything fell apart?
