I agree with what you said about Doakes, I always loved the idea of him being framed and going to prison in season 2 rather than dying. Then he could come back seasons later as Dexter's biggest problem yet. Can't wait for the next few, Dexter and Deb's dynamic in season 7 is incredible and such a fun change of tune compared to season 1-6.

I love the "Oh god" at the end, right when he finishes Travis, right after his journey through religion and figuring out it really isn't something he believes in. It's just perfect. Season 7 here we come. One of my favourites for sure!

I forgot this was the episode where Deb sees Dex killing someone. Deb probably went to the church so she could talk to Dex alone about her feelings. They had to get rid of Doakes because he knew about Dexter. Also, they probably didn't know the series would last as long as it did; they may have regretted killing off that character too soon. I'm surprised Travis didn't mention the hand that was mailed to Dex.

The writing on this season is so abysmal it is almost beyond belief. Deb is having ChatGPT psychosis before it even existed. The dialogue. Poor Colin Hanks. The sets look worse than they have in years and the themes are ham fisted. Wildly disappointing nearly unwatchable. I remember the vibes in my house when my family was binge watching this on dvd the secondhand embarrassment.
