self aggrandizement means "to advance the reputation of oneself beyond what is warranted by the facts".

I honestly don't remember when he first used Dark Passenger for sure, but he said it sitting in the coffee shop the first time with Lila in Season 2. Then in episode 5 of season 2 the comic book was called The Dark Defender.

!Next episodes are bangers

The comic you're thinking of is The Dark Defender

Hannah's father is played by Jim Beaver from Supernatural....where he played a character named Bobby. 😊

"Trust me, I hope I'm wrong about this." I do think it's sweet but also a bit tragic that even now Maria wants to give Dexter the benefit of the doubt. She doesn't get any satisfaction from learning this new information.

Ben

do you think you'll react to the final 2 around next week?

Messi Begh

you're missing so much good dialogue by talking over them

Austin

Show-wise, it's such a weird retcon to say he coined the Dark Passenger in his childhood when you consider he doesn't mention it even once in S1 and then essentially never shuts up about after meeting Lila lol

My headset is louder than my voice so I can hear everything despite my talking. Was there a specific piece of dialogue in this episode that you believe I missed? Apologies if it's sometimes hard to hear the dialogue yourself, I have subtitles enabled for that reason. Hard to balance the audio perfectly for the recording since the audio levels change a lot for shows and movies.

It`s weird how sympathetic the show tries to make Hannah look when she`s an active killer with no regrets of that. Killing father to protect her was really crossing the line for Dexter, could be a good start to a villain arc

I think that a lot of times viewers of Dexter miss the point (because we have been watching a main character in a show for 6-7 years). The show might want to find ways to justify what Dexter is doing and wrap it up in a cloak of pseuo-morality, but Dexter is in the wrong. No matter how you look at it and no matter what justifications you use, he is what conventional morality would label as bad. So i don't think that having a discussion about whether Dexter is getting "worse" is helpful. What i believe the writers are more trying to showcase here, is Dexter becoming more in tune with his humanity, after so many years of believing he is not the same as everyone else. He is feeling strong feelings of lust (at first) and then love towards Hannah (probably for the first time in such a normal and visceral way), and he is slowly figuring out that he is responsible for his actions. He is actively choosing to do the things he does. He is becoming more human. Now you could argue that for those around him that is a worse thing, but for him, it's actually growth as a character. As for the subject of morality and who is good or bad, i believe it is absurd to believe that Hannah is bad while Dexter is good. For example if we make a comparison between Dexter and Hannah (in the grand scheme of things) and what their input in worldly moral balance is, Hanna would not even come close to Dexter. Hannah has killed 5 people (all for different reasons - some justified, in the ways Dexter's are justified- some because they simply threatened her or were in her way) while Dexter has killed literally hundreds of people. Whether the majority of his victims were killers or not, doesn't matter in the eyes of the law (which is the generally accepted lens of morality we use). Also you could see a future where Hannah could grow old not killing anyone else (because she doesn't have to), whereas you could not imagine a year passing by without Dexter killing anyone else. So it's all relevant.

Dexter has killed 5 "innocents", 1 by mistake, 1 in self defense, 1 for mercy, and 1 to protect his children. He killed this one to protect rhe woman he loves. I don't think it was just because the guy was a dick. He was a threat to Hannah. She is now under his "don't get caught" umbrella. I can't see him just killing willy nilly now.

32:20 I didn’t realize Dexter didn’t think he was at fault until this moment lol
