Finally hahaha

Tomaskooo

I remember years ago when I watched this finale at 4am, i have never been more addicted to show, but damn, this hit even harder than 4x12

Trygon

I found it to be a bit of a cop out, the writers are too scared to have dexeter actually do something bad

LMuenze

pls take a look at quinn when maria brings dexter in like he knows 100% hahaha

J-DEV TV

Excellent reaction to one of the best episodes of the series.

Andrew

do something bad? he is a serial killer

Monica Alfaro

Debs acting 🤌🏼 I also believe quinn knows.

JB Die-Kasten

He didn't even kill the abusive stepdad of Astor's friend in Teenage Wasteland. He has standards. He thought he had to get rid of LaGuerta but he really didn't want to. Technically he's a serial killer but he has morals, that's the point.

C. J. Ramirez

I mean dexters code is not get caught also

Janet

The cops never found a kill room with plastic, only the cut up bodies. So finding the plastic covered container is still circumstantial.

Arthur Fields

Didn't he kill an innocent guy in a store or bait shop one season. I think it's when he was imagining conversations with his brother instead of Harry.

gabe

Cool reaction, but i just noticed that it had more cuts than the usual, not a big thing but sometimes it cut a little bit of the scene

Staineless

Couldn't disagree more. Dexter has done plenty of bad things, killed innocents, killed just assholes but not killers, he does terrible things all the time. This ending was a turning point for Debra, a way to change up her character, show the dangerous decline of morality once you accept one bad thing (her brother is a murderer) then the next step seems easier (please kill for me Dexter) and all the way towards doing it herself.

dick crimes

the cuts looked more like some kind of rendering error i dont think it was intentional

I personally haven't ever liked Dexter's development in season 7 and 8. I don't think it's that out there that he was willing to kill Maria but I guess I just hate that he would be in such denial about Hannah and basically let her corrupt him. I don't think him being blinded by love is good writing for him. Lila is a similar case to Hannah but so much more well written I think. Regardless, this is a good episode and can't wait for the coming seasons

Brandon

my video froze so many times i missed the best scenes

gabe

Yeah, its probably nothing

MB-RD7

Same here! I thought it was an internet issue

Austin

Isaak's monologue more or less foreshadowed this ending: "Love defies reason. It can be inconvenient, perhaps inappropriate. It can be dangerous. Make us do things we wouldn't dream of doing. But wrong? That just depends on where we end up, doesn't it?"

D

The beginning of the end

Liam Lacey

That scene where Deb shoots Maria wrecks me, her reaction isn't just for shooting her but for what she's become. That moment changed her forever, into something she never would've wanted to be and its heartbreaking.

Ben

this was the most unexpected ending to a finale to me besides 4x12

martineek16

Yo, whats your season ranking rn? I think season 2 clears but then 4 and 7 were a big stand outs

Deo-mone

Maria could mention plastic in a container and a chainsaw but there would be no proof for anyone that it wasn't her who put it there and just played the scene, like shirt and wallet so it's basically useless for anyone but her, she can do whatever she wants to get anything to attach it to Dexter but useless by itself. About the rules and the code in season two ep 9 timing 16:13 there was a flashback of Dexter and Harry(real one) H: “What’s the number one rule?” D: “Don’t get caught.” H: “And what are all the other rules for?” D: “So I don’t get caught.” There is one main rule: Don't get caught, and other rules are supporting rules which he must check-in in order not to be caught. But Rule #1 is always matters more than other rules.

Your sense of what is good or bad js interesting.. (and not objective) by your account then Dexter should probably kill Deb. She killed an innocent and got away with it. Right? How do you figure that Hannah is bad while Dexter is good? Hannah as I mentioned killed 5 people while Dexter has killed hundreds. It's not even close dude. Anyway it's funny listening to thoughts on morality and hearing that Dexter became bad or whatever you think, when he fell for Hannah..

MovieFusion

I think my thoughts are way more nuanced than that. I try my best to explain it in detail but sometimes with reactions the words that come out of my mouth end up being a bit more concise (which removes a lot of the nuance). I don’t think it’s as simple as Dexter good, Hannah bad. I think both are doing bad things and have done bad things. But Dexter has limits (that he has periodically gone past), Hannah seems to have no limits and just kills anyone who gets in her way with little care.

Brandon

ye it ruined the video

AlexBoss

I hear that, but what i mean is that you don't need to say the actual words Dexter good Hannah bad. It shows by the whole analysis you try to make, that in your internal morality scale you have already applied moral justifications to Dexter's failings. I don't know if that's more of an American thing, as i have noticed over the years that you tend to glorify vigilante justice as long as you can say that the person getting killed is "bad". Don't get me wrong i love Dexter as a character and i wouldn't have a problem even with him getting a happy ending, much like the ending of (spoiler warning for the 2 people who haven't watched it) Infinity War. But that doesn't change the fact that he is a serial killer, who as we established, WANTS to kill people and has found a loophole for his internal "morality" to be able to keep justifying to himself (and to the audience) the horrible things he does. If for example we try to closely look into the killings of Hannah, much like we are doing for Dexter over these seasons, they would start to look a bit less than murders with little care and without limits (as you say). Let's see that through the lens of a defense attorney.... The first murder she did, she was 15 years old, and got carried away in the heat of the moment, as she was almost brainwashed by someone who is manipulative and also a serial killer. She also served time in Juvie for that, so i believe that everyone could forgive her that. The second person she killed was that councilor guy who was sexually abusing or harassing two underage girls. i would claim that in the same vein you judge Dexter's murders as just, that one also is justified. The third person she killed was her husband who all we know of him is that he tried to coerce his wife into having an abortion ("murder" ??) or else he would have left her (probably with nothing, no money and no home, but with a newborn child). Did he deserve to die? Who's to say? But if he was capable of coercing his wife into an abortion, who knows what else he was capable of. The fourth person she killed was Beverly, her mentor. Who by all known accounts (Hanna's and her foreman's) Hannah admired. That one seems more like a mercy killing. I mean what we know points to Beverly getting very sick, Hannah taking care of her (for a significant period of time), bathing her, feeding her etc And then Beverly died of poisoning. If all Hannah wanted was to get the greenhouse, she would probably do this whole thing way faster. She wouldn't spend time trying to care for a sick person. So that one i wouldn't even call a murder. And the final victim is Sal Price. The same Sal Price who threatened to say lies about her and Dexter (He told her that if she didn't talk to him she would force him to get creative). The same Sal Price who was paying her father for dirt on her (scumbag behavior). And then she was forced to kill him to protect the person she loved (Dexter). Much like Deb did in this finale. After reading this, doesn't Hannah seem more , if not sympathetic then definitely, logical? Now... having said all this, she remains an objectively "Bad" person, but certainly less so than Dexter with his mountain of bodies. And the key point in all of this is the fact that Hannah could conceivably spend the rest of her life not killing anyone else and being a productive member of society (if no one threatened her...) whereas Dexter (at this moment) is not capable of spending even a year without killing someone. Not because he is a justice seeker and he wants to kill out of a sense of morality, justice or revenge, but because he WANTS to kill people. He just masks it behind "pseudo-morality", using justice to fit his needs. Sorry for the rant...

Next season is….interesting to say the very least

Unfortunately this is a common bug on Patreon, I will edit the post to add a link to the Vimeo version of it since that should work better
