I heard the aliens were originally meant to be skrulls, but since fox was being bought by Disney, and MCU was using skrulls in Captain marvel, they were able to force X-men to change it from skrulls to generic shapeshifting aliens. Also heard the 3rd act would be a massive space based set piece with Jean grey fighting the aliens but it was also too similar to captain marvel. So they changed it to the train sequence with reshoots. Interestingly, among people who dislike this movie they often say the train sequence was the best thing in the movie. I like the whole movie but I agree with the train sequence being the best part. To see all the characters fighting together was a great way to end the franchise. The prequels always had the xmen and magneto’s people more as Allie’s that sometimes disagreed than as enemies that had some small measure of respect and affection for each other.

Doesn’t make sense with the aging since this movie is set in 1992, 8 years before xmen 2000. So we’re meant to believe that mcavoy and fassbender turned into Stewart and mckellan in 8 years. Also Moira mctaggart and William Stryker are not mutants yet they don’t age. We saw Stryker in xmen origins set in 1979 and he was older than the Stryker we see in apocalypse in 1983. Reminder that X, beast and magneto are 30 years older in dark phoenix than they are in first class.

Idk why but I loved this movie but I’m bias simply bc I am obsessed with everything x-men. I just took it for what it was and it was enjoyable but the soundtrack definitely made the movie for me.

I definitely think it's much better than what people give it credit for, but I'd still say it's my least favorite of the whole X-Men franchise (have yet to watch New Mutants tho)

They were still in production when Disney bought out Fox. That's why it feels "unfinished". As for Jen Lawrence, for the last couple of movies she was very vocal about how much she didn't like playing Mystique. So that's why her scenes were the way they were. And why Mystique was killed off. As for the age thing. In the comics it's been theorized that the x-gene suppresses the aging process. It's been confirmed that shape-shifters, those with healing abilities, and those with invulnerability/super strength, thier x-gene distorts thier aging. I like this movie cause they showed other aspects that the other movies didn't show about the team.
