Chapter 7: Ingris Buer

Jun POV

The heavy oak doors of the throne room didn't just creak open, they groaned under the weight of itself.

Mai, Ty Lee, and I fanned out into a standard low-profile infiltration, with Anko-sensei dropping back into the shadows behind us to act as reinforcement or a surprise. The room was massive, lined with marble pillars that stretched up toward the ceiling. And sitting carelessly on a monolithic stone throne at the far end, was a guy who looked like he’d crawled out of 18th century Europe. He had crisp, immaculate clothes, polished boots, and a look on his face that practically screamed to be punched.

"Intruders," the young man with white hair said, his voice echoing off the high walls. He didn't stand. Instead, he swirled a fresh glass of crimson wine, looking down his nose at us. "I am Ingris Buer, heir of the noble Buer clan. I must admit, I was growing terribly bored in this dreadful pocket of reality. But look at what the tide has washed in."

His gaze swept over Mai and Ty Lee, a dark, deeply possessive hunger flaring in his eyes. "Beautiful ladies. You three women possess certain assets that I could do a lot with. I offer you a rare mercy: kneel, and become servants of my new Peerage. A rare honour."

Then, his eyes flicked to me. His expression turned instantly to cold disgust. "As for the boy? You don't have any worth to me. You can become fertilizer for my gardens."

I didn't recognize the name Buer, but Peerage is ringing a bell. I have spent the last twelve years in this world, cataloging Naruto and Avatar: The Last Airbender lore. This guy wasn't in any canon I knew. But I know it rings a bell.

If this guy is from another world that I recognise from my last life, these portals could be a lot more dangerous than I initially thought. I remember thanking whatever R.O.B. that sent me here that I wasn't put into a horror world. The first world that came to mind being 40K, but if a portal led to a horror world like 40k, Imagine if a portal containing those horrors spilled open.

Thoughts for another day.

“Before we continue, what's a Peerage and what benefits are there to joining.” Anko asks. Probably fishing for info.

“Huh, I thought you would take offense to my wanting to kill the boy. You are more cold hearted than expected. You will do well as a servant.” The devil says while smiling. “A Peerage are the retainers and servants of a Devil King such as myself. The benefits include longevity and an increase in strength among other benefits.” As the self proclaimed Devil king continued to talk, a memory that I couldn't grasp continued to rattle at the back of my mind like an itch that you couldn't reach.

“Now let me quickly remove the nuisance and we can talk about your eternal servitude.” The Devil is clearly talking about killing me.

“Hmm while tempting, I'll have to decline, you see I don't think my village would take too kindly to my change of allegiance.” Anko says while tapping a finger on her lip as if she really was tempted.

“No matter, I'm sure you will see reason once you have been reincarnated.” The devil says with a confidence that he knew something we didn't.

"I don't know what kind of drugs you're huffing, pal," I muttered, my hand sliding down to the hilt of my short blade, "but it must be something strong."  I know it sounded a little childish, but the fool kept talking as if my death was a foregone conclusion.

"Bold words for an insect." Buer sneered. While waiving his right arm dismissively creating flouting spears with their ends pointing straight at me. “Let's see how bold you will be with a few new holes.” while waving his hand again and causing the spear to fly across the room straight at me.

“JUN!!!” Ty lee screamed in horror as the spears pierced right through me. Well a water clone but he doesn't need to know that.

“Well that was easier than expected. I expected at least a little fight with all that pravado, well what can you expect from a…” He didn't get to finish his monologue as a barrage of kunai hurtled to his face which he barely managed to stop with a shield he managed to create in front of his face instantly.

Mai and Ty lee knew I was alive but we have trained for this scenario. I draw the enemies irritation, get myself killed, conceal my chakra, hide away and look for the chance to land a killing blow.

But before Ty Lee could even move.

“Hahaha. Interesting, very interesting. You do have a few tricks up your sleeve kid. You can come out, within my manor no one can hide from me.” Buer says, looking straight where I was hiding on the ceiling.

With a violent tear of wind, two massive, leathery, bat-like wings erupted from his back. The sheer, suffocating weight of the energy that rolled off him hit the room like a physical shockwave. It wasn't chakra—it was dense, dark, and utterly alien.

"Spread out! Now!" I barked.

Mai's hands blurred instantly. A lethal volley of heavy, poison-tipped senbon and launchable knives zipped through the air, aimed directly at his eyes and throat. But Buer didn't even dodge. He raised a single hand, a burst of dense, crimson energy erupting from his palm, creating another shield, deflecting the metal clatteringly across the marble floor.

"Is that all?" he mocked.

Before he could finish the sentence, Ty Lee was already airborne. Defying gravity with a spectacular, high-flying acrobatic arc, she dropped from a stone pillar right into his blind spot. She struck out, her fingers targeting his internal pressure points with lightning speed. Thwack-thwack-thwack.

Buer didn't even stumble, his left wing twitching violently at her sending her flying back at the wall. Only for her to do a flip midair changing her angle allowing her to land on the wall with her feet luckily without any visible damage.

“I'm curious, what were you trying to do?” Buer asks

"It's called chakra blocking, it's supposed to stop your chakra from flowing!" Ty Lee, flipping back towards the floor.

“Hmm, Chakra, Is that what you use in this world?” Buer asks. “Well I don't have Chakra, but I definitely felt something. We will have to see how it works with Demonic Energies once you join my Peerage.” he continues.

"Jun, now!" Mai shouted, already reloading her sleeve springs.

I compressed my chakra, triggering a localized burst of speed that kicked up the dust of the throne room floor. I materialized directly beneath his guard, my short blade catching the eerie violet light as I drove it upward, aiming for the unshielded neck.

Buer’s eyes widened in sudden, genuine panic. He didn't have the instinctual close-quarters reactions of a trained shinobi. He was used to long-range magical exchanges. At the absolute last second, he threw his body backward, the edge of my blade slicing a deep, clean line across his cheek.

Dark, thick blood spilled onto his silk collar.

"You primitive beast!" Buer roared, composure completely shattering. A massive amount of spears began appearing in the air around him pointed directly at me. “Die.”

Just as he  released the spears a shadow fell over me. Anko-sensei dropped from the ceiling rafters like a striking viper. Her hands formed a rapid sequence of signs. "Snake summon!"

Right as I was about to be impaled by spears a black wall appeared before me blocking all the spears, which I quickly realized was not a wall but a giant snake. Fuck Anko can summon the big snakes.

Clearly the giant snake scared the shit out of Buer too, because he decided that his fancy clothes wouldn't be enough.

Red energy began to escape from all over the self proclaimed devil and began to coalesce into what seemed to be medieval type of armour, red with a red glow from under the plates.

Honestly I was a bit jealous. The armour looked cool as fuck. And could be extremely useful for someone like myself, a fellow armour user.

The large snake didn't seem to care all too much about the armour as it just used its tail to swat the devil right into the wall.  The armour seemed to be made from the users energy and coudnt withstand a strike from a monster riveling high jonin, shattering against the wall revealing openings all across the armour. An opportunity I decided not to let go.

I began channeling lighting chakra into my sword to deliver the strongest attack I could. An attack I couldn't yet use without a buildup. Anko noticed what I was doing and shouted “Don’t!” but it was too late. I was already moving for the kill, hitting the devil straight through the heart.

As the blood spilled from his mouth he whispers “You’ll regret that.”  as I was about to reply something began to happen. Right where I stabbed him through the chest began glowing a deep crimson and everything went dark. My last thoughts being ‘Maybe it wasnt so smart to deal the last move.’
