Each month, I try and pass along the generosity you show me by employing other artists to create a variety of illustrations, portraits, magical items and other works of art that can be used in your games at home, whether they be homebrew or official modules.

This month, I wanted to highlight one of those pieces -- the Townmaster's Hall from The Lost Mine of Phandelver with art by Ha Art.

The Townmaster's Hall features a small foyer, a storage closet, exterior privy, small court room and a meeting room and private office for the Townmaster. There is a small jail in the lower level of the hall, as well as a bell tower.

The Townmaster's Hall is a great location to handle social scenes related to the PC's as they navigate the challenges of a town or village. Even if you aren't using Phandalin specifically, this could be a great piece for your game world, where the PC's can either bring some to justice, or defend themselves for the untimely passing of an NPC that was certainly justified and necessary.

So, how I can use this location?

Social Scenes - you may have need to have a court room setting for a local judge to preside over a particular case involving one or more of the PC's, or perhaps this is the location where a court official may ask the PC's to track down an escaped criminal.

Player Rescue - sometimes the party gets in over their head when in town and one, or more of them, ends up in the local jail. They may need to be rescued legally or perhaps illegally, which may then lead to further incarceration and legal issues, but when has that ever stopped a murder hobo?

Here's the original Townmaster's Hall map (attachment at end of post):

In the module, this was a location where one could encounter or interface with Phandalin's townmaster/mayor, Harbin Wester, for whom I commissioned a portrait from HIIDRA Studios:

I hope you enjoy the piece and seeing where some of your support goes!

Curious

Very nice portrait. Glad to see he's doing well. In my game his wife essentially left him for one of the player characters and he was quite a broken man at the time. He seems to have rebounded well. 😁
