Steezy — Open Road (In-Between Set)

This set with Steezy actually came together in that in-between moment where you’re not really planning a full concept—you’re just working with what you’ve already built. We took one of her outfits and stripped it back a bit, made it more minimal, threw in the cowboy hat, and paired it with the duffel. That’s really where the whole direction came from… it naturally leaned into this hitchhiking / traveling-through-nowhere kind of vibe.

What I like about this one is how simple it is. There’s not a ton going on—just her, the road, and a couple of props—but it still feels complete. The duffel gives it a story, the hat adds character, and everything else kind of falls into place around that.

I’ve shot at this location a bunch of times before, but this is a perfect example of how it never really matters. People get stuck thinking a spot gets “used up,” but it doesn’t. It’s always changing. Most of the time I’m here at sunrise, but this was shot at sunset, and it completely transforms the feel. The light wraps differently, the tones shift warmer, and the whole scene feels a lot more cinematic.

That golden light hitting the road and kicking back onto her, the long shadows stretching behind—those are things you just don’t get in the morning the same way. Even the background feels different, even though it’s the exact same place.

This set is really just a reminder that you don’t always need a brand new location to get something fresh. Sometimes it’s just about changing the time of day, simplifying what your subject is wearing, and letting the environment do the heavy lifting.
