Country Girl with Alexis (Patreon)

I actually found this location earlier in the week while out on a hike during another shoot in Arizona. I came across the old stone wall and the tree tucked into the desert and immediately knew I wanted to come back once the light was right. It had that perfect mix of texture, open space, and natural framing that feels cinematic without needing much added to it.
This was my first time working with Alexis, and honestly she made the whole shoot easy. Desert shoots always move fast because golden hour out there disappears almost as quickly as it shows up, so a lot of the session becomes reacting to the light in real time and adjusting angles on the fly. She settled into everything naturally right away which made the whole set feel really effortless.
A lot of this shoot was about letting the environment carry the mood instead of overcomplicating things. The warm light bouncing off the rocks mixed with the cooler shadows in the cactus fields gave everything that soft cinematic contrast I’m always chasing in Arizona. I kept the edits pretty clean overall because I wanted the atmosphere and color separation to feel natural instead of overly polished.
The lower angle shots especially ended up becoming some of my favorites from the set because they made the desert feel massive around her instead of just turning it into a background. Between the sky, cactus fields, and the way the light wrapped around the rocks and tree, the whole area ended up feeling way bigger on camera than it actually was in person.
