This set with Kenzie happened earlier than it probably looks. Sunset was still about an hour away, but out in Arizona the mountains kill the direct light way before the sun actually disappears. Once the sun drops behind the ridges, everything turns soft instantly and the desert gets this really quiet look to it. No harsh highlights, no hard shadows, just really clean natural light wrapping around everything.

I think what really made this set work was the styling. The blue set with the matching boots was all Kenzie’s idea, and it ended up fitting the desert colors perfectly. It was a cool change from always leaning into darker tones and black-on-black styling. The lighter colors gave everything a softer western feel without losing the edge.

One thing I love about Arizona is how unpredictable it can feel. While we were shooting this entire set, a pack of coyotes literally walked right past us, looked over at us for a second, and just kept moving through the desert like we weren’t even there. It was one of those moments that reminds you how far out there you actually are once the light starts fading and everything goes quiet.
