Art by MiitaraHello there,

Just giving you an update on where the project currently stands:

Metal Blaze’s design is finished (I’d rather reveal it at the right time).

The plot is done. We’re aiming for a story of around 26 pages. Like the ’96 OAV, we decided to divide it into two parts. If you know the original story, the core setup is similar, but the stories are fundamentally different — the characters are too different for it to play out the same way.So you can expect Part 1 to focus on Blaze reaching Eggmanland, and Part 2 to be Blaze vs. Metal Blaze.

Rough color concept art for Part 1 is finished.

Script for Part 1 is finished.

Next, we’ll be working on the cover and the storyboarding for the first part.

I hope you’ll enjoy this story!

On a small side note: I still plan to use part of the Patreon funding to continue Olympus Heroes, but at a much slower pace. I feel that if we leave it on hold for too long, the momentum could disappear entirely, so I’d like to keep it going — even slowly.

Metal Blaze?? Do you think Metal Blaze would use searing hot steam releases rather than fire?

Lummh

Nope, still use fire. Why would it use hot steam rather than fire anyway? :v

Set apart Metal Blaze from Blaze, and also more resource efficient. Unless they can use metaphysics like Blaze does, being able to superheat moisture in the air to the point of steam that can cause upwards of second and third degree burns much like when a steam pipe bursts and scalds someone would be generally more efficient. On the energy and also on internal resources. Without self-generating fuel using external atmospheric conditions, trying to maintain a steady stimulus of fire would be next to impossible and need regular reloads or extremely innovative alchemy sort of like prolonging the burn of a fireplace fire by using lard on wood or w/e. So steam makes more sense. Moisture is everywhere, you can use energy to superheat it, this is especially true around any body of water which would be an easier counter to Blaze unless she cranks up the heat even hotter depending on water composition, etc.

Hm, I prefer what we did with our Metal Blaze. Steam wouldn't work AT ALL with our thematic. Besides, I don't think there's a need for realistic explanation for anything technological in Sonic, when we have Eggman, or even Tails, who can create the craziest stuff without a single explanation to how it actually works. We're totally in the "shut up it's science" category here
