This is probably the reaction I was looking forward to most this arc. The turning point! I haven't wished for the workday to speed up this much in a long time. I might even slip out early...

Dzenis

Sugar stays young because of her devil fruit not the berries. It freezes your age at the time you eat it.

Pyro Sasebo

I know it was like 70 episodes ago but Luffy looking at that Kyros statue was about less than 2 hours ago for him, time is whack in the Dressrossa arc.

MakkaPakka

GOD Usopp is upon us guys

Remiel

Holy shit what? It was that recently?!

Random3x

Doffy clearly got so upset he lost his head.

Umar Baig

More than Bounceman if yk yk??

hairy_spice

Dressrosa is Doflamingo's "one bad day"

SimStu

Can't wait for next episode, it's gonna be PEAK

Umar Baig

Next time gonna be as crazy!!!

pontius copilot

the entire arc takes place over the course of like... one day yeah

pontius copilot

Luffy remembered the statue not just because he saw it earlier that day but Luffy ALWAYS loves statues. In Water 7 he wanted a big ass bronze statue for the ship too

Azael Santacruz

yeap and its not even a full 24 hours day, its like from 9:00am to like 4-5pm or something like that

Hardens Burner

Luffy loves meat statues and beetles

Omniplaystation

Yeah these two episodes always hit super hard emotionally. Like the weight of Dressrosa's tragedy comes crashing down. I'm caught up on the anime but I always felt that Dressrosa had the saddest story, the loss of memories on that scale. Erasing existences. I'm super hyped for the fights to come though. Starting with the next episode! But I'm probably looking forward Jack's reaction to the trichiliocosm being unleashed 2nd most in this arc.

chrisis

Kyros cutting off his own leg without any hesitation is crazy, dressrosa is truly peak

Monkey D. Souza

If ONE "GIRL" can erase your memories without even touching you for 10 years and always remaining a girl, imagine what the world government could do with this power in their hands. It seems like Oda is hinting at how the void century may have happened 🤔

Zura Janai, Katsura Da

And so begins the tale of the one legged man in the ass kicking contest

IAMONE

perona made the same eyes when she realized that ussop is immune to her holo holo negative

pontius copilot

I want to give my boy God Usopp some benefit here though. I know it's not canon but in my head I think part of the reason he was SO pathetic during this is because Robin disappeared from his memory when she became a toy. The advent of Sogeking also didn't happen because there was no Robin as a catalyst- thus undoing a lot of his character development. It's 100000% cope but I stand by it lol

Robert Dudley

you know what? That's acceptable. I never thought of that. Without that reasoning, Ussop's behavior these past few eps was the biggest assassination of any character development that I've ever seen in any story. So I'm just gonna choose to believe your theory instead.

DiamonDust

It was closer to 40 episodes ago to be a bit more precise, but yeah the time goes by slow due to the general pacing as well as showing multiple POV's every episode of things occurring at the same time.

DiamonDust

Yep, Kyros is HIM. It reminded me of how Zoro nearly cut both of his legs off to escape Mr.3's candle set on Little Garden before help arrived. They are both like wild beasts who have an absolute determination and an unwavering conviction.

DiamonDust

An interesting idea, but I find that unlikely. It's a very powerful ability to censor the masses in a kingdom setting like Dressrosa, but as you saw this episode it can quite easily backfire on you when used on such a large scale if the user is knocked out or killed. Plus it's not practical to use this on a global scale, there would be too many people to turn into toys that are too spread out for one DF user to contact. Instead of using any kind of DF ability to censor history, it is far more effective to simply annihilate entire civilizations, burn records, and forbid research into the void century by threat of execution. The Ohara incident is an example of how they censor information like that. And that's exactly what the WG did back during the void century most likely, only on a much larger scale. In OP the geography is extremely important to the WG's authority... the world is just a bunch of small islands with limited communication with one another and it's divided even further by the red line where the WG is perched atop. It would in theory be quite easy for them to just wipe out people in mass to censor stuff while just leaving those that know nothing of what they did during the void century alive. It's not like our world... they can literally just raze islands to the ground and make up some cover story for what happened or even just act like nothing happened and take advantage of people not being able to prove anything. It's just that easy for them because there is no one to oppose them, keep tabs on them, or hold them accountable but themselves. Everyone is subservient to them and cannot question them without consequence. So yeah, we can make theories about how they censored an entire century but IMO I think they did it through absolute force by just erasing people and places who opposed them with overwhelming military power like they did in Ohara. This is why the Poneglyphs are so important... they are historical records giving information about the void century that the WG cannot easily read or destroy.

DiamonDust

Yes, Sea Prism Stone/Seastone is seemingly a near indestructible material. It can't be compared to something like steel which someone of Kyros' level would be able to slice through like butter. I think there technically has to be some way to reform or damage Seastone considering the Marines shape different things out of it though (almost certainly a technique developed by Vegapunk since he was the one said to be responsible for creating Seastone undercoated Marine ships) . Once you get Seastone cuffed the only realistic way to remove them is with a key, someone else's DF power, or cutting off your limbs. It's a really dangerous material in that sense.

DiamonDust

I think people are being a bit hard on Usopp. I don't even think you need to justify his behavior with the plausible headcanon of him forgetting his Enies Lobby character development after Robin was turned into a toy. Realistically speaking, there was nothing he could really do in that situation so why would he confidently attack Trebol and Sugar right away? His skillset is not suited for this. That's just not smart when it has a near 100% chance of ending in failure. I would actually go as far as to say Usopp attacking them in that moment may have been a poor choice. It was pure luck that Sugar got knocked out as a result of something she herself did to Usopp. Usopp has grown a lot, but he still has cowardly tendencies and more importantly he is far weaker than both Trebol and Sugar. Far weaker is an understatement, he might as well be an ant to them. Usopp did not know Robin had been turned into a toy either, so for him cutting his losses and escaping likely seemed like both the safer and the most logical choice.

DiamonDust

And as far as people blaming him for lying to the Tontatta, Usopp originally lied to them because they kidnapped him and he wanted them to let him and Robin go. He could have come clean at some point, but Usopp is not really the type to do that and it was a funny bit anyway.

Monkey D. Souza

I think you are right. It def seems like the WG would simply use force to create the void century in a way. Loved the detailed response
