Hi Jack! Just wanted to remind you about Observation Haki which lets you "predict" their intentions making it able to dodge their attacks, and it can also let you "sense" other people so that you know how many people are in your vicinity and where exactly their positions are. And Usopp's lock in moment was him "unlocking" his Observation Haki, that's why he was able to see the auras of the three people at the top. Anyways, I'm glad Usopp's moment hyped you up so much since that basically made up for his questionable actions the first time he traumatized sugar.

ALL HAIL GOD USSOP

Usopp went from running away like a lil scared cat, only to turn into THE GOAT, THE CARRY, SNIPER GOD USOPP

The last few minutes of episode 697 will forever be one of my favourite moments in One Piece. Usopp awakening his observation Haki and pulling of the most insane sniper manoeuvre yet transitioning into our captains unitedly landing in front of Doflamingo to confront him is simply epic. Especially with the music that was chosen. Every once in a while you'll have a moment that will always come to your mind whenever the track from it is used; regardless of whether it was used before. The music that played during the Walk to Arlong Park is one such instance; the one that played after the reveal of what Ace did to protect Luffy from Akainu an other... to me, "Counterattack Signal ~The Straw Hat Pirates Appear~", the track used for the last moments of that episode has been forever linked to this scene in my mind, even though it is far from the first or only time it was ever used. But it sold this moment just perfectly.

This arc somehow has both Ussop's best and worst moments in my opinion. Oda was really flexing with Ussop in this one.

Best thing about Usopp’s moment, aside from unlocking observation Haki? He saved the future king of the pirates with an insanely difficult shot, and he *doesn’t care* if Luffy never knows Usopp went from the guy who brags about ludicrous achievements that he never actually did, to a guy who did something legitimately crazy awesome, and is perfectly fine if no one else finds out about it.

These One Piece edging sessions are getting real intense

Just a heads up that power God Ussop used was observation haki

pontius copilot

Aye just a heads up- Toei really drug out Dressrosa but after this its pretty solid pacing again. Also, Usopp was using advanced obs haki- he was able to pinpoint their aura w/o using standard "vision". The shot was basically cross country

Seeing usopp step up TWICE in the clutch feels so rewarding for all the time we’ve put into his character development, yea it takes a long time but if it was ever gonna happen those were the moments to come through

Jiraffe

I'm pretty sure that was not advanced observation, and I am pretty sure that idea of "advanced" haki has not been introduced yet for Jack. I believe this is just regular observation haki.

Veritas

I think they were using the casual use of the word, as in Usopp is relatively skilled, or advanced, compared to your average person, considering the distance and lack of training.

Luck64

He had to hit his all time low in order to achieve his peak haha

TheLegendOfSora73

At this point I think Rebecca just thinks of "Lucy" as a cute nickname for Luffy.

You just witnessed ussop unlock his observation haki

DiamonDust

It's also extremely impressive that Usopp's Observation Haki could reach that far... especially considering he just unlocked it. That kind of distance is not your typical observation Haki from some novice, it's the kind of distance you would see from someone on the level of a master of Observation Haki. It's only fitting that it would come naturally to him of course, he IS the Sniper King.

DiamonDust

It's scenes like this that make you remember that Usopp is an incredible talent in his own way. Even though he does not have brute strength like some of the other Straw Hats, he is more than talented enough to compete with the others on the crew through his sniping. During Enies Lobby and Dressrosa where long distance attacks were the difference between victory and defeat for the entire Straw Hat crew, Usopp was the one who was needed most in those moments and he saved the day.

Ussop has an extremely negative character trait and that being cowardice. I heard a wonderful piece of advice where someone made a loveable asshole in dnd and when asked how to do that they said, "find the reason why your friends are the exception to the characters rules." Ussop is a coward but for those he loves he will fight to the bitter end. we see this with the Syrup villagers, when defending Luffys dream in Alabasta, and so many other great moments. With the Tontatta's however, he liked them but didn't love them, with no reason to bend the rule of his Character flaw, it's understandable he would run away. That's why when he breaks his rule for people he just met, it truly is a BIG step to becoming in his mind "a brave warrior of the sea."

Just A Simple Pickaxe

Honestly this is probably the most W take on Usopp's character i've seen
