Sceptic Llama

Good episode. The yamato backstory hits so many strings.

Joshua

The egg on Roger's ship serves the same role as Chopper: emergency food.

Uselesskazuma

I personally dont really care about Yamato's backstory on this, idk she doesn't do it for me. She does seem cool but idk. Might be a hot take but the Samurais are way more interesting

kejihxv

is it going to kill you to say "he"

Keishawn

Zoro is ryuma descendant, and Shimotsuki Ushimaru nephew, Zoro mom is Ushimaru sister. ODA revealed it in a SBS and only hinted at it during wano. If im not mistaken i believe Zoro village is called Shimotsuki Village. Zoro linage was something oda thought we would just pick up on it

Uselesskazuma

I'm just going off of what is confirmed, if you don't that's fine

SimStu

Every since he moved, Jack has been STRUGGLING without Wall Piece

Dragonstorm35

Slight correction, Zoro’s grandma is ushimaru’s sister. So Ushimaru is Zoro‘s granduncle

Log

My headcanon is that when Yamato started to rebel, Kaido thought "damn I actually have to discipline my kid, how do I even do that? wait I should call Linlin, she's got tons of kids she will know what to do" and Linlin was like "oh yeah I usually just torture them a little and then they calm down"

Gita

Yamato came out of nowhere in Onigashima, and I'm glad that we got his backstory when we did. It cemented more of his reasoning behind becoming Oden, and also showed how much of a "good" father Kaido is lmao. Anyway, like you said, Yamato is only there to stall him until Luffy comes back, but Kaido is Luffy's enemy only. It's a one man job from now on.

Dark Kronis

honestly i want to know who slept with kaido, who the mother

Uselesskazuma

THAT is interesting too! I do wanna know that at some point, who managed to get that close to him

GrungoThe Omniscient

Ryuma is centuries old, I'm don't off the dome if he's Void Century old but he's OLD old

Keishawn

Thank You for correction!!

joaokappa

im not sure on the timeline but i think ryuma lived 200 years after the void century

The Samurai and Yamato are both interesting and compliment each other super well. Yamato is peak. It's a pretty ingenuous character concept to have Kaido's daughter turn on him and side with the Samurai. Yamato compliments the arcs themes extremely well, and also completes Kaido's character and even builds upon Ace's character. I can't even imagine the Wano arc without Yamato, it wouldn't be as good.

DiamonDust

Also to the others in the thread (besides OP), please stfu about Yamato's pronouns ffs. Y'all are still on about this every single week? I'm so tired of this... you're a shame on the One Piece community and Jack's community. There is no proof of Yamato being trans. Yamato is ACTING as Oden. Acting as a character is not the same as being trans. You can have you own interpretation that Yamato is trans and refer to Yamato as "he", but don't force your personal interpretation onto others with this virtue signalling bs. If you actually take a calm non-biased approach to this, you would see that Yamato is likely not meant by Oda to be trans. Look at the objective information we have and it becomes quite obvious. The initial introduction labels Yamato as Kaido's daughter, and Yamato's vivre card doesn't list her as trans (but Kiku's does). Yamato also maintains a completely feminine appearance, and her overall appearance has not changed whatsoever since she came to idolize Oden and call herself Kaido's son. Why? Cause it's just Yamato acting as Oden. Oden was male, so she acts as a male. Acting is just acting, though, it's just for show. Therefore, either set of pronouns would be appropriate in the case of Yamato acting and we should stop bickering about something this stupid. Yamato is not even real.

Fae

There's another amazing freeze frame when yamato is cooking his thunder bagua at 22:54, goes hard AF!
