We had such a boss rush of fights that we now need to compensate by lore dumping all over the place. Literally Odens father alive, Pluto in Wano, Buggy and Luffy new emperor and wanted poster, the new bounties of Kid, Law and Luffy, Ryukogyu revealed, Shanks going after the One Piece and beeing nearby Wano, Barto stealing Islands from Shank in the name of Luffy, a flashback to Shanks stealing the Gomu Gomu no mi, Vivi missing and Kobra killed by Sabo, some supposedly Gods Knights off the leash, the revolutionaries leaving without casualties with Kuma against two Admirals and Sabo making himself a name, all in just two episodes is crazy work.

When I first read the line of Shanks just casually saying "its time to claim the one piece" like its just stored in a house of his I flipped and Jack is just like "oh". haha

The way I see it the reason Shanks hardly ever makes an appearance is because if he showed up constantly then it wouldn't have nearly as big of an impact as it does. He feels so disconnected from the rest of the story because he's not usually supposed to be connected with what's happening to the straw hats and what they're doing. That's why when he does finally show up you already have an understanding that whatever is happening is a HUGE deal. And the way Oda finds ways to bring him back into the story without feeling cheap or uninteresting is amazing.

This is all theory at this point but I think the awakening of Nika is a major requirement for one piece and somehow shanks new. Remember he did have a conversation with Roger, after they got back from laugh tale. It puts into perspective his entire journey and his motivation for helping luffy. which inspired him to become a pirate. How crazy would it be if in the future, luffy found out that shanks only saved him and kept a watchful eye over him, as a means to further his end goals of becoming the pirate king ahead of luffy.

IMO Shanks is clearly not allies with the Gorosei, he was just talking to them as enemies about something unrelated. What they talked about is a mystery, but could be about a common enemy they both have like Blackbeard or something. Shanks has respect even from his enemies because the know that he is an honorable man, so they are willing to meet with him. So yeah, they were not just gonna hand him any DF, they are not allies. He is still their enemy, and he stole it. It's unclear if he knew what the fruit was before he stole it, but I guess I support your theory that he knew ahead of time. In which case, he did not want the world gov to have such a powerful fruit since they are his enemy. You will see in a minute, but Shanks only showed up to prevent the Navy from taking out Wano or Luffy while they were weakened. He likely predicted that the Marines would attack after the fight and decided to sail there. It's similar to how Shanks saved the day at Marineford.

Maybe partially, but it made sense for him to be there. Shanks is a man of great foresight, and he would assume that Luffy and Wano would be vulnerable to the Marines after the fight. Not only would he want to protect Luffy, he would also want to protect Wano since it was Oden's home.

On a side note I am kind of curious what Shanks would have done if Luffy lost?? Was he just gonna stroll up to Wano and wipe out Kaido's whole crew while they were on 1 HP like Ryokogyu did, thereby saving Wano on behalf of Oden?
