RIP Ulquiorra until the very end such an intriguing character. Also yeah, you were pretty spot on. Ishidas injury from the fight was censored. In the Manga he straight-up got his arm ripped off, which makes the comment of "Anesthetized and stopped the bleeding" make more sense.

so while the whole Ichigo wanting his wounds to match ulquiorra is dumb and is a typical shonen thing, it does make a lot of sense in terms of the story. Remember when Grimmjow said that Ichigo could've left with Orihime when she was next to him during their fight? He decided to stay and Grimmjow calls him out on it, saying that he also does like to fight and wants to beat him. Same logic can be applied to the Ulquiorra fight a bit. He had the win with his hollow form, but he didn't like that he had to use it to win. It wasn't him in control, and if you recall a certain conversation/speech Ichigo had with White Ichigo (aka White), it makes sense why he feels the way he does. He was scared of his hollowfication taking over. Yet even after the fact of having Orihime safe next to him, he still wants to win the fight on his terms because he wasn't in control AND because it's part of his personality to want to win cause he enjoys fighting.

Yeah, Ishida lost his whole arm up to like the elbow in the Manga. Also, if you think about the backstory with Grimmjow and his whole journey through the Hollow forms you can try to imagine just how much Ulquiorra went through, being the only one with a second resurrection he must have had quite an insane 'life' as a Hollow.

You are right to be surprised by Ulquiorra's change of heart, but there was also a lot of amazing foreshadowing. It was witnessing the humanity of Orihime and Ichigo that changed Ulquiorra... he initially saw them as illogical but grew to see the potential value of their bonds. The first major foreshadowing happens when Ulquiorra actually bothers to have a conversation with Orihime about what the "heart" is, showing his curiosity rising on something that he did not understand. Then, Ichigo says Ulquiorra may have become more human and that's why he can read his moves. Ulquiorra responds with anger, which is a human response and further foreshadowing. You even noticed it yourself, Jack, you said you were surprised he got angry. The other foreshadowing comes in the second half of the fight where Ulquiorra tries to break Ichigo's spirit to PROVE that Ichigo's bonds and heart mean nothing in the face of overwhelming power. Ichigo proves Ulquiorra wrong by never giving up even though it was impossible for him to win... Ulquiorra can't understand this at all but becomes more and more interested in what the "heart" is.

NGL chief my version has been this HD since like, Shinji showed up in school like Hulu is just lazy and uses whatever version the licensing copy gives them which is usually the worst one. As sketchy as fan sites are they usually use the Blu-ray box set versions that have the animation fixes in them which Hulu and Crunchyroll have never used ever they insist on using like the worst TV version of everything. This is why I do not have respect for the companies with the legal licenses to actually show the anime they're showing because none of them do it right. When I tried Bleach on Crunchyroll literally they forgot to put subs on the entire Ichigo vs Zaraki fight in the Soul Society and it was like that for years and they didn't fix it. Like how am I supposed to feel good about supporting the anime industry when that's what i'm supporting? I'd rather buy an official t-shirt and then just download the entire show in high quality with fansubs.

That final line from Ulquiorra spawned over a decade of Orihime x Ulquiorra fanfiction which is crazy because he dies immediately after saying it.
