You are not alone with your opinion and confusion of power scaling in Bleach, it is basically a nightmare for every powerscaler out there because everyone has different takes and most of them are probably good explainable so no one really has the answer, not even the author.

I think some mangakas try to avoid power scaling because it affects their ability to surprise people with battle outcomes they woundn't expect. Dragon Ball Z leans heavily into power scaling but I think that's an exception rather than the norm. People power scale One Piece all the time but the bounties aren't as simple as power levels and because of how devil fruits work there's a lot of good/bad matchups that don't make it easy. In order for power scaling to be truly straight forward everyone would have to have the exact same ability but then you're stuck giving everyone the exact same ability.

You should skip the recaps now but hit go on the title card rather than after the title card. Some of the title cards are gas and you don't want to miss them. Also title card strat won't work in TYBW cause they put them wherever.

Japan was more sensitive to violence on TV than America for the longest time but as we've seen they're less sensitive to hot women lol. Evangelion at the end of the 90s was the first big anime to have blood in it shown on a mainstream channel on Japanese cable and it revolutionized what could be shown on TV at the time. This episode was about 10 years after that so they were still censoring stuff but by the time Attack on Titan was on TV a lot of it went away due to its popularity. Also streaming services did not care about censoring anything compared to cable television channels. TYBW has no censorship except for 1 line which if you know you know.

That and it aired at around 6pm lol, TYBW airs at midnight. Ignoring broadcast rule changes since then, 6pm isnt ideal for that on the channel it was slotted on.

Yammy being 0 can make sense in the story, but I don't think it was set up well. The issue is that Yammy is just not that interesting character and is just a ball of power but with brain of... Yammy. If someone smarter had his spiritual pressure they would be much more frightening opponent. There are debates about if second release Ulquiorra is the top Espada but there isn't any consensus. However most people would put him at least on the same level as 1. Toshiro is a prodigy but also he's the youngest in terms of body and spiritual pressure, so he's actually not THAT high amongst the captains right now. I feel like his fight was somewhat boring but mostly because of the pacing and the 'trash talk' which did not move a needle. The power scaling in Bleach is really difficult because unlike most shonens the characters in Bleach are unreliable narrators and will often say or describe their powers in a way that's misleading which isn't always explained later and can be seen only when analyzing the actual deeds, also a lot of characters are using hacks. Plus there's the fact that unless spiritual pressure difference is huge, its potency is directly tied with the mental state and concentration of the character, so weaker character can beat the stronger one if properly motivated, eg. Ichigo vs Kenpachi at the start.
