Nanami was saying "I can't" because he didn't want to tell Yuji his last words, especially the ones that he ended up saying. Nanami didn't want Yuji's burden to increase due to his own death and last words. I don't know why Nanami ended up telling Yuji those last words anyway though. (You've got it from here.)

Nanami was always trying to protect Yuji as the more mature, more stable adult. I like to think that Haibara (someone he was unable to protect) appeared to him to remind him he was about to die and no longer able to protect Yuji. I think in that split second when Nanami smirks before speaking to Yuji is him realizing that Yuji is mature enough and strong enough as a sorcerer to finally not burden himself unnecessarily with Nanami’s death. Nanami, normally an “I’ll handle this” type of guy, is finally letting someone else handle it. 😭😭😭 RIP our sweet, sweet overworked king.

Yuji never really understood fully why he had to be executed. Seeing what Sukuna did in Shibuya made him realize why the higher ups wanted him gone immediately. I think that's what the first scene was trying to portray.

Don't feel bad about the episodes running out! Just know the writing keeps getting better and better. Thats my consolation.

Thx for your idea, I actually like that!

The only redeeming thing about Mahito is his voice actor does a damn good job.

Rip Nanami :( he didn't want to curse Yuji with his last words, but bet on him regardless
