excuse my fangirling but MY BOY IS HERE :D trust me, punk hazard is an amazing arc, you are gonna love this

Jack, you have to realize, the World Government can't just fire their Warlords willy-nilly. There aren't a lot of pirates are strong enough to be in the position, and simultaneously willing to obey the World Government. That's why the Warlords rarely turn up to meetings, even when the WG summons them. They have a lot of wiggle room precisely because they know the Government can't replace them easily. As long as they don't openly and actively work against the WG, like Crocodile or Jimbei, the WG pretty much lets them do whatever they like. Which is why Moria gets to just chill out and steal shadows from innocent people, and make zombies from corpses. Even though that's obviously not something he does "legally".

I love smokers cigars just going directly into his gas mask XD

I forgot how complicated Punk Hazard was when you don't know all the pieces yet. This is so much fun rewatching it alongside you and remembering the mystery and surprises and theories. Also. There he is. There's the man.

sorisyau

Very excited for this arc! And he's finally here :)

So as of now, there are five revealed warlords. Kuma, Hancock, Mihawk, Doflamingo and Law. Crocodile was replaced by Blackbeard, but he and Jinbeh quit and Gecko Moria is MIA, presumed dead(?).

Someone being a Warlord doesn't mean they approve of the WG, it's purely transactional for both sides. The Warlord is granted amnesty for their status as a pirate and any crimes they commit while being a Warlord. In exchange, in times of war they are required to gather to fight on the side of the Marines. The Marines have the Warlord system to combat the threat of the 4 Emperors, essentially. Realistically, Boa Hancock prob should have been fired for fighting a high ranking officer like Smoker during the war, but the WG is so desperate for the Warlords' strength to keep the balance of power in their favor that they are willing to let quite a bit slide. They had imprisoned Jimbei for refusing to fight Whitebeard, but if he had relented and agreed to fight in the war the WG would likely let him walk away after with zero consequences. Also, Boa Hancock and her crew are very strong. Even if she can't be completely trusted, it's a win for the WG to have non hostile relations with her. They are already fighting the Emperors, they don't want to make enemies of their own Warlords if they can avoid it. That being said, most pirates tend to see the Warlords as selfish government dogs. Sometimes that can be true. That's probably why you were surprised to see Law become a Warlord, but as you said Jinbe and Hancock showed that there are different motives for being a Warlord depending on who you look at.

I'm pretty sure the reason Franky has been rocking the stag beetle hair is because he knows how much Luffy loves stag beetles. He just wants to bring his captain some joy. Franky is such a sweetie.

You may find it interesting the voice of gas dude is Tomoharu Takeo who also voices Frieza in DBZ.
