Where do you see the highest risk for Tesla in terms of cybersecurity?

richard knuszka

In terms of risk. There are likely to be several "threat agents" that present risks to Tesla. Examples include nation state, motivated attackers ( fame, fortune or just drive by technical interest;that will be intrigued on how to run attack Tesla), all of which likely to have different motives. For paid agents, motive will be money. For example, taking ownership of one of the cars, weaponising it and would be something to think about. Attack vectors likely to be physical ( access to the car, tampering or planting additional devices that enable control) and over the air transmission ( man in the middle style attack and interfering with the software updates ). Other more probable risks (IMO) surface from an InfoSec and likely to have the same impact. Tesla use/disclosure of private information ( Internal car footage or recordings , trip locations ). As Tesla collects more data ( both external and internal to the car and patterns of usage ) from cars/robots from all over the world, the chances of this happen increase. Just a few of my thoughts on this subject. Hope this helps. Happy to discuss further. Cheers. Rich.
