Let me submit this bit of hyperbolic conspiracy theory or maybe genius move. Elon sells $25BB worth of stock and pays $3.5BB in long term capital gains so he has $21.25BB in cash. The stock drops to (for arguments sake ) to $900 and he exercises his stock options on 20MM shares at $900 (lets assume priced at $100) he has to pay income tax a on $16BB in earnings at 37% or $5.9BB in taxes ( no state income taxes in texas) so his cash position goes down $16BB and he has $10BB in stocks he owns from the options , he takes the $16BB in cash and buys $17.7BB in tesla stock at ($900) so now he sold 22 mm shares and then recovers 30.9MM shares so his net position in tesla stays the same or is a little better 8mm more shares but now he paid about $9.65BB in taxes and when the shares recover he actually makes money on the transaction. I'm not a trader and I am sure that there are a lot of laws to review to do this. But I think the most brilliant piece of the puzzle is Elon can say I did not plan to do this I put it up for a vote, and the yes won. It just so happened to be around the same time I planned to exercise my options which by law I can do at any time. And what are you complaining about I just paid you almost $10BB in income taxes.

Thoughts on the AI show Westworld? I barely watch series but I recommend for people with interest in AI.
