They are Frozen because thier massive growth originating from their successful penetration of the US market gave birth to MASSIVE suburban supply chains creating intense economic regional dependency on the ICE industry. The National Economy is at stake in JAPAN over this strategy, which makes it understandable. They will build new BEV stuff in the US, ( Previously china pre the Infaltion reduction Act) not in Japan. The recent deal with BYD will prove to be a release of the Brand into BEV, outside Japan.The Brand WILL work from them.

I love the rant. I agree that Toyota has been very stupid about the EV transition, but they did hire Joe Justice to try to help them and their plan from what I have heard is to start a new EV Company, wholly independent from their ICE factories and simply let the ICE factories self-destruct while the EV factories ramp up.. I don't understand why they bash EV's if this is the case unless it is to squeeze as much out of the horse and buggy manufacturing until it can be thrown away! Clearly it is cheaper to build new factories specifically for EVs than convert which costs more and results in less efficiency as Tesla Fremont or the VW converted plant recently.
