I recall that Elon used to say that Privacy does not matter. Loved everything else he was doing, but that remark also made me hate it. Privacy is just as important as freedom of speech for democracy to function. You need to be able to privately dish out your worst possible ideas and throughts with friends etc. to figure out you are whatevs. If you bottle up your shittiest thoughts even privately, your actions will correspond as your friends have not corrected you. Imagine a shit heads like Epstrein, Clinton, Gates, Obama, Stalin, Lenin, Mao being multiplied exponentially because you could not be privately corrected by your close circle and you thought some insanely bat shit crazy stuff was normal or acceptable ...

Pretty sure he has learned error of his ways based on more recent remarks of how seriously they take privacy at tesla etc. and it was in regards of Tesla collecting so much data he made the remark of "privacy does not matter", cameras etc. making you think a Tesla is a rolling spy machine. Albeit, we still have to take it on trust that Tesla values your privacy :/ But can't get it all in one day, i hope they eventually roll out verifiable privacy stuff like hardware kill switches for interior cameras etc.

Elons main mission, afaik is understanding why. So far, pre twitter, it's been about making sure humanity keeps on going, so that we can finally find out why. Twitter or free speech, does of course also fit into this, whether it's because we need free speech to find the answer faster or it's to keep people free in general to prevent a global north korea situation.
