I think people aren’t getting it, but not for the reasons stated so far. Even if zero “truck guys“ want the cyber truck there are at least 40 million fleet vehicles that are trucks. The cyber truck, because of its lower fuel and cost and dramatically lower maintenance cost and schedule are a no-brainer even at $100,000 as a fleet vehicle. For commercial fleet vehicles, it’s typical to replace them every 2 to 4 years because of regular body damag. With a more durable body, That won’t dent through “normal“ usage, and with dramatically, lower fueling and repair costs. The cyber truck will last three or four times as long easily. The cyber truck chassis will be used for fleet vans before there is enough cyber trucks produced just for fleet usage. and these numbers only get radically better for cyber trucks with full self driving enabled. If you know anybody in construction, ask them how frequent it is to need something from the hardware store the cost of having somebody drive that truck, find that thing in the hardware store, and drive back is very expensive. As soon as the cyber truck is available, the truck will make those runs instead of a paid worker. All of this exists outside the realm of the “truck guy” buying a single truck. The IEA seems like they’re on track to fuck up as bad as they have over the last two decades for solar costs and adoption.
