I met a patient once who was a double leg amputee and he had the BEST fake story, I'll never forget. He would tell people he lost his legs when he went out fishing and had to wrestle his son's arm out of the mouth of an alligator. His son would play along since he had an unrelated series of bite mark scars from working at an animal shelter and since this is a part of the US where alligators roaming is common, PEOPLE WOULD BELIEVE IT. He inspired me to make up a fun narrative about my own scars (even though they're mostly abdominal so I need to go out of my way to show someone). If you've got a scar, you might as well make it a creative conversation piece 😂

My husband has a scar across his nose and into his eyebrow. He tells people he was hit in the face with a piece of metal roofing during a hurricane. And he was. But people rarely believe him cause he's from Alaska and they don't have hurricanes there.
